8 DIY College Tailgate Decorations You Need

Instead of buying decorations for a tailgate and spending tons of money, there are options for you DIY’ers that are cute and inexpensive. Tailgating by itself is expensive AF, so any way to save a few bucks here and there is SO helpful in the long run. You can make any of these decorations with your favorite college football team’s logo on it or you can just keep them neutral! With that being said, here’s 8 college tailgate decorations to get your brain whirling!

1. Gameday Photo Booth

You can make some fun props on sticks to pose with for a photo booth. You can include a football helmet, a football, and other items related to your tailgate. All you need now is a background to pose in front of! Whether its inside (you can hang the background on any wall) or outside (you can hang the background on a car or on your tent), this photo booth will be a big hit!

2. Football Strawberries

Who says food can’t be a decoration, too? These strawberries are super delicious and they don’t take sides for which team is better! All you need is some molten chocolate to dip the strawberries into and some white frosting for the design and you’re all set!

3. Magnet Coozies

Glue some magnets to one side of a coozie and now you have a drink holder. On. The. Side. Of. Your. Car. Like what?! It keeps your drinks out of the way and there’s less of a chance for them to be knocked over. Just make sure to take them off before driving!

4. Football Food Cones

Instead of using plates to hold your snacks, make these football cones! They are super easy to make and it helps make munching a whole lot easier while trying to keep up with the game. Your husband, father, brother, etc. will thank you later for this creation.

5. Goalpost Centerpiece

This decoration is super easy to make! All you need is some PVC pipes and a stand. You can hang other signs from it to showcase what team you’re rooting for or you can let it be! During halftime, it’ll be great for some tabletop football! Once the post is done, artfully place the food around it and enjoy!

6. Drink Tub

To make things more exciting, you can paint a tub from the hardware store either into a football or you can paint it with your team’s colors or logo! So many options! And it’ll look so good when it holds your drinks inside. The best thing about it though: you can reuse it many times for other tailgates!

7. Astro Turf Coozies

These are super cute! Just find a mat of artificial grass at a hardware store and hot glue the ends together! Make sure to leave a little space for the can to slide in and out, but not fall off completely. Why didn’t I think of these before?

8. Yard Line Table Cover

Instead of buying a boring-colored table cover, make this super fun one! It ensures easy cleanup and protects your table from scratches and knicks from your crazy football fans. You just need some craft paper, white electrical tape, and adhesive numbers and you’re ready to decorate your table!

Who’s your favorite college football team? Let me know in the comments below! I’ve been a Clemson fan for a while now and hopefully, they go to playoffs again this year!
