The University of Toronto is undoubtedly one of the best universities in Canada. But like every other university, there are definitely struggles that every university student faces. Keep reading for 10 things that make you want to cry (momentarily) at the University of Toronto.
1. That walk across camp in the snow.
I mean most people walk across Queen’s Park or King’s College and die. But, you definitely have to give credit to those who ski across it…or at least try to.
2. My crippling GPA.
When it’s two months in and you’re starting to question how you even got here? Remember, everyone is also crying too! Eventually you’ll get used to the system and grades go up but the work truly never does seem to end.
3. Trying to find a study spot during midterm season at Robs.
If you find a spot, DO NOT MOVE FOR THE NEXT MONTH!! And another benefit of this library: they have their own Starbucks! Also wouldn’t help my crippling GPA 😢 But you might actually need a map to get out of this place…
4. Also midterm season.
Buh bye friends, sleep, parents, extra curriculars…will see you in 2 months to 3 years because IT NEVER ENDS! Also wouldn’t be a bad idea just to carry a sleeping bag around campus tbh.
5. Not having a proper hoco.
There’s probably a really good chance that you’ve never even heard of the word homecoming (hoco) if you go to U of T. It’s also that time when everyone goes to other universities and for those of you here – frat party season.
6. ACORN crashing every other week.
Hey I mean what can you expect when there’s 80,000 students right? Might be helpful to be able to log in and check my GPA or enroll in courses but no big deal if I can’t right?
7. UofT Time.
I mean it’s meant to be a blessing but when it’s -25 C and you have to go from Bahen to Isabel Bader, is 10 mins really enough time? Am I preparing for my degree or a marathon? RIP feet 😢
8. Being introduced to 10,000 clubs during frosh.
Yes I know what Ulife is but it’s been 7 months and I still have no clue what I’m doing. If someone can help me sort my life out, it would be much appreciated.
9. Only one brown food truck
But BLESS for the Supreme Fries when dining hall food sucks. And also when you’re running from class to class. And just in general because fries rock!!
10. Textbook prices
I’m already in crippling debt from university tuition. Please don’t make me suffer even more with 3 REQUIRED textbooks for half my courses. At least you can rent some from the bookstore.
