10 Best Breweries Near Hayward

You’ve finally made it to the weekend and want a night out with a few drinks. If you find yourself in the East Bay, there are a lot of options to fulfill this desire. Here are 10 of the best breweries near Hayward.

1. Buffalo Bill’s Brewery

This brewery is one of the main attractions in Downtown Hayward. It’s a fabulous place for a first date but also spacious enough for a large group when you’re out on the town. Conveniently located next to a movie theater, Buffalo Bill’s is a great place to grab a beer or garlic parmesan fries before the latest flick. With multiple screens to stream sporting events and a beautifully lit outdoor seating area, be prepared to wait a while to experience all its wonder!

2. 21st Amendment Brewery

One of a few breweries in San Leandro, this can be your go-to drinking spot but not on Mondays because they’re closed! Located about 15 minutes from Hayward, you can indulge on their much talked about watermelon beer and get some food from a food truck. If food trucks aren’t your thing, you can also bring in outside food which is a great money saver!

3. Pacific PourHouse

If a defined brewery is not quite your speed, consider a lowkey evening at Pacific PourHouse. One of the newer establishments in Union City, you can choose from a variety of beers on tap or go the cider route if you aren’t too big on beer. With so many to choose from, this place offers a more independent drinking experience which can be ideal for a date night or a relaxing evening with a group.

4. Alameda Island Brewing Company

Alameda may not immediately seem like it is near Hayward but the 30-minute drive to this brewery is well worth it. In combination with the friendly staff, this brewery has a lot to offer and is dog friendly! If you’re looking to spend a night playing board games with some great drinks, the trip to Alameda from Hayward is a no brainer.

5. Diving Dog Brewhouse

A little on the pricier side from the previous breweries near Hayward but Diving Dog has Kick the Keg Tuesdays which means discounts! With a considerable selection of beers and lots of seating, this can be your hangout spot if you are out & about in Oakland. Although parking seems fairly limited, so I recommend taking BART there to focus on all the drinks they have to offer without stress.

6. Independent Brewing Company

A relatively young brewery nestled in a spot where the eye could easily miss it, be sure to check out this brewery near Hayward. If you want to be surrounded by East Bay sports memorabilia and listen to hip hop while choosing from their selection of beers, this is the place for you. Don’t forget the doggy treats for your furry friends too!

7. Caps & Taps

For those of us who head towards the valley when leaving Hayward, this beer garden vibe may be more your speed. An intimate space with kegs that go quickly, it is best to arrive with your preferences in mind. You can have a beer and enjoy a baseball game on one of their screens but be sure to bring your own snacks!

8. Drake’s Brewing Company

First Fridays & Drake’s quickly became synonymous in the Bay Area. Hayward residents flock to this brewery for the beer, food, and space available. The bartenders are also happy to give recommendations if you aren’t sure what to order and be prepared to run into some folks from back home!

9. Federation Brewing

Your search for a comedy night filled with drinks in an intimate setting is over, this is the place for you! Although this is a smaller Oakland brewery, it is still worth the trip. Their selection of craft beer continues to evolve, and this is a hidden gem you will want to have under your belt. This is one of the best breweries near Hayward!

10. Lagunitas Brewing Company

Ah, we’ve reached the one everyone was probably searching for on this list. Although Petaluma is a little further from Hayward, it is no doubt that residents have frequented this brewery or always have their beer on hand. Friendly service, live music, & good drinks are always a successful combination.

Keep this list in mind when you find yourself near Hayward to take an exciting night trip! What do you think are the best breweries near Hayward? Tell us in the comments!
