10 Activewear Brands that you Need to Invest in

Working out may not be everyone’s top priority right now but slipping into some cute activewear definitely makes those sweaty sessions 10 times easier. But to be honest, activewear isn’t always the most affordable. These 10 brands will be sure to impress you with their quality and performance and might make you second guess not investing in your activewear sooner. Whether you’re still working on your 2020 resolutions or trying to burn off the 20 pounds you gained from all that quarantine banana bread, these 10 stylish activewear brands will be sure to kick you back into high gear.

1. EleVen

Calling all Tennis players! Eleven is an activewear brand that was created by professional tennis player Venus Williams. Yes, that Venus Williams. The 7-time Grand Slam singles champion didn’t create EleVen to be the best, but to make the women wearing it feel their best. Designed to enhance your confidence and performance, EleVen is bound to be your new everyday activewear uniform.

2. Set Active

Set Active is for my on the go gal! Whether you’re on your way to a spin, class, walking to get lunch with a friend or just a go getter that thrives in cozies then Set Active is for you. The brand has streamlined designs that flatter all body types, and can we talk about those colors? So dreamy!

3. Lululemon

I would say that Lululemon is the most expensive on our list of activewear to invest in. That’s for good reason. The hype is real when it comes to quality. The brand began as a Canadian yoga based activewear line that quickly expanded to running, tennis, and training gear. With a wide range of styles in leggings, tops, undergarments and outwear, the contemporary designs are fashion forward and chic. Spending $100+ on a pair of leggings can seem outrageous to some, but once your tush is cradled by the perfection that is the align legging you won’t think twice about your purchase. Lululemon also offers free tailoring and garment repairs at every retail location. Now that what I call dedication.

4. Girlfriend Collective

This sustainable activewear brand puts it all out there. Girlfriend Collective is a female owned brand that is inclusive, sustainable, and totally worth your cold hard cash. Ranging from XXS to 6X with an abundance of styles and shades, girlfriend collective wants to ensure that no one is left out. Their clothing is manufactured in an eco-friendly factory in Taiwan produced from recycled plastic water bottles. Another thing we love is how transparent they are about their sustainability and labor practices!

5. Gym Shark

Gym Shark seemed to have been shot out of a rocket and hasn’t slowed down yet. The UK based brand creates active where for the girl who wants to life heavy and go hard!  The brand took off by utilizing influencers to target their key demographic. Not only are the garments great quality, there are more styles and colors than you can even imagine. Major influencers like Whitney Simmons and Steve Cooke have created their own activewear collections with Gym Shark that have completely sold out in a matter of minutes. Keep up to date with their launches and get your wallet ready because their stuff goes fast.

6. Outdoor Voices

Outdoor Voices is a New York City based brand that was created in 2014. Created by Parsons School of Design graduate, Tyler Haney, she says that every piece created by Outdoor Voices is made to sweat in. The construction is clean with fun details that make the garments more exciting and elevated like interesting stitching or hidden pockets for convenience.

7. Roam Loud

Anytime is a good time to support black owned brands and businesses. Statistically the fitness industry marginalizes and excludes the black community which is why it’s so important as a consumer to invest and support these brands. Roam Loud was founded by Toyin Omisore’s who set out to place women of color at the forefront of her brand and she did exactly that. Her premium activewear was inspired and influenced by her Liberin grandmother. Although she never met her grandmother, she wanted to incorporate her strength and resilience because “She embodied the essence of Roam Loud so it was a perfect marriage for it to be illustrated through athleisure and activewear.”
