Breakfasts Ideas That Will Fuel Your Mind

In need of breakfast ideas? As they say, breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but why is that? Well, most importantly, eating breakfast will jumpstart your metabolism. Metabolism turns your food into energy, so eating breakfast helps your body to do this faster. For your mind, eating breakfast improves behavior and concentration, making us happier and even improving how we learn. Now, this doesn’t mean a bowl of sugary cereal or a PopTart will do the trick. You need to eat nutritious meals for breakfast, such as eggs, vegetables, fruit, and proteins. A healthier breakfast means a healthier mind. Check out these tasty and nutrient-packed breakfast ideas!

Avocado Toast

Avocado toast is one of the most delicious breakfast ideas we could think of. Avocados are a great source of potassium and are full of fiber and healthy fats. This meal is so easy to make. All you need to do is throw a piece of bread, I recommend wheat or multigrain, into the toaster and allow it to reach your desired brown. Take half an avocado and use a fork to mash it up in a bowl. While doing this, add salt, pepper, and even a splash of lemon juice to the mix. Spread this over your toast, and top with red pepper flakes and Everything But The Bagel Seasoning (this stuff is THE best). If you’re feeling extra hungry, top your toast with hard-boiled egg, tomato, or bacon. This is bound to be your new favorite breakfast.

Yogurt Parfait

Yogurt is a great source of protein and calcium, and yogurt parfaits are a great way to get your yogurt in! This idea is so simple. All you need is your favorite yogurt, I recommend vanilla greek yogurt, some granola, and fruit. Start with a bowl or cup and throw on half your cup of yogurt, then a tablespoon or two of granola, and some berries. Strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries taste amazing in parfaits, but many people also choose to use bananas. Then pour in the other half of your yogurt, two more tablespoons of granola and top with more sliced berries. This breakfast idea is sure to leaving you wanting more!

Veggie Egg Scramble

This meal will taste fresh out of your local diner. Veggie egg scrambles are one of my favorite ways to take in a ton of nutrients early in the morning. Take two to three eggs, crack them in a cup and add a splash of milk. Using a fork, scramble up your yolks! If you’re using egg whites, be sure to separate the yolk from the whites before cracking into the cup. Next, cut up your veggies of choice. Broccoli, spinach, tomatoes, onion, peppers, and mushrooms are all great additions to any scramble. Mix them into your egg mix, and pour onto a sprayed pan. Next, add salt, pepper, and your cheese of choice and scramble over medium heat. Pair this breakfast idea with a hot cup of coffee and dig in.

Oatmeal

Oatmeal is another great one of our breakfast ideas as it’s rich in antioxidants and controls your blood sugar. Start with a pack of Quaker’s Instant Oatmeal. To cook quickly, add in 2/3 cup of water and microwave for one minute and 30 seconds. The best part of oatmeal is choosing what to top it with. You’re going to need some type of nut butter, either peanut, almond, or cashew butter, fresh fruit, chia seeds, coconut shavings, and nuts. Throw your toppings all together on top of the hot oatmeal and stir! This breakfast will leave you full and feeling good all day long.

Peanut Butter Banana Toast

Peanut butter banana toast is a great source of protein and potassium to start your morning. Similar to avocado toast, you’ll want to use whole wheat or multigrain bread. After toasting, spread on your peanut butter, or any nut butter of your choice. Top with slices of banana, and even sprinkle some chia seeds and granola on top! Because chia seeds are so rich in nutrients, I try to fit them into any meal I can. If you don’t like banana, strawberries make a great fruit replacement for this toast. This will be at the top of your list for breakfast ideas.

Açaí Bowl

Açaí bowls are the most refreshing breakfast and are perfect for a hot summer morning. Açaí packs can be bought at most grocery stores, and all you have to do is throw it in the blender with some berries or banana. Next, comes the fun part! Pour your açaí blend into a bowl and top with your favorite fruits. Raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries are my go-to toppings, as well as granola, coconut, honey, peanut butter, and of course, chia seeds. This bowl is sure to keep you full and focused on the day ahead.

Fruit Salad

Eating fruit is a great way to start your day because it wakes up your digestive system. I try to incorporate fruit into every breakfast idea, whether it’s in the meal itself or I eat an orange on the side. Fruit salad is more of a side to your breakfast, as you won’t feel full for long off of just fruit. Making a big fruit salad at the beginning of the week and eating a bowl each morning with breakfast is a perfect way to get your servings of nutrients in. Cut up berries, grapes, melon, pineapple, and oranges to create the freshest and juiciest fruit salad!

Energy bites are SO addicting, and luckily they’re delicious and so healthy for you! They make a great quick breakfast idea. Make up a batch on Sunday morning and you’ll have a great on-the-go breakfast all week! All you need is nut butter, oats, flaxseeds, chia seeds, honey, coconut shavings, and chocolate chips. Mix that all together in a bowl and form into small balls, then let them set in the refrigerator. No baking necessary! Eat a few of these with your cup of coffee and you’re promised a productive day ahead.

Hard-Boiled Eggs

Hard-boiled eggs aren’t loved by everyone, but they should be. Eggs are a great source of protein and there are so many different ways to eat them, but hard-boiled is by far my favorite. They’re fast and easy to make, and if you boil up a carton full at the beginning of the week you’ll have them to snack on every day! You can eat them whole, cut them in slices and top with salt, pepper, and Everything But The Bagel Seasoning, or throw them on top of your avocado toast. Even try topping your hard-boiled eggs with hot sauce! If you weren’t a fan of these before, you will be now. You’ll want to include this to all of your breakfast ideas.
