He befriends a black Mende fisherman who has found a rare gem that has the potential to get him killed. With the help of DiCaprio’s character and a journalist, he tries to escape those trying to kill him and his family.

While Hughes is a successful public figure, DiCaprio does a fantastic job of showing the private life of Hughes. Hughes is tormented and is suffering from paralyzing phobias. He also suffers from debilitation depression. The movie shows how hard Hughes tries not to lose all that he has.
