5 Ways to Get a Job (When You Don’t Have a Car on Campus)

Having a job while in college is a nice way to make some extra money. But what do you do if you don’t have a car on campus to get to that job? Here are some tips on how to get a job, no car necessary!

Find a job on campus.

The easiest job to have when you don’t have a car is one that’s located on campus. You already spend all your time there, so why not work there as well. The best time to look for these jobs is at the beginning of the semester, but you should still look year round because you never know when a spot has opened up. A lot of colleges have webpages and specific job search outlets to find jobs on campus.

Find a job that is within walking distance.

A lot of colleges have towns located nearby that students can easily walk to from campus. This is a great way to get to know members of the community and get outside of your school’s little bubble. If you do get a job off campus, make sure they know you are a student and are okay with you going home on breaks. You don’t want them to find out last minute that you won’t be around for the holiday rush because your heading back home, which is sometimes in a different town or even state!

Find a job that’s accessible with public transportation.

A lot of bigger schools have their own bus system that takes you all over campus, and into town. If your school has this, use it. It is a cheap way to get to and from different jobs without having to worry about car payments and gas money. If you go to school in a city, you’ll have more options because you have access to a subway/train.

Find an online job.

We live in a digital world. There is so much online, even jobs. Websites like WayUp.com and apps like Go Commando help college students find jobs that you can do from the comfort of your own dorm room. Most of these jobs are social marketing jobs, and all you will need is a computer or tablet. And think about it, a social marketing job will probably look better on your resume than working at a local fast food place.
