You Probably Had No Idea These Celebrities Graduated From Temple

The phrase “You could’ve gone anywhere, but you chose Temple” is not as widely used as it once was, but it is still uttered sometimes. Sure, Temple is no Ivy League School. However, Temple boasts some pretty cool attendees and alumni! These celebrities graduated from Temple and you probably had no idea!

1. John Oates

While John Oates is known for his work with bandmate Daryl Hall, he has a successful solo career as well. Oates and Hall met at Temple University when their bands were performing in a battle of the band’s show and they fled from a gunshot. Oates graduated from Temple with his Bachelor’s in Journalism.

2. Daryl Hall

Like Oates, he is known for Hall and Oates, but he also has solo music out. He grew up in Pottstown and studied music while at Temple. He and Oates continue to tour to this day, and together, they started the HoagieNation music festival in Philadelphia in 2017.

3. Kunal Nayyar

Kunal Nayyar is known for playing Raj on The Big Bang Theory. Though he received his Bachelor’s degree in finance at the University of Portland, he took acting lessons and became interested. He graduated with his Master of Fine Arts in Acting from Temple University.

4. Bob Saget

Bob Saget is known for playing Danny Tanner on Full House.  Saget studied at Temple’s film school. His black and white film, Through Adam’s Eyes, won a Student Academy Award. Saget received his Bachelor’s from Temple in 1978.

5. Jill Scott

While Jill Scott did not graduate Temple, she studied secondary education there while working two jobs and pursuing music. After dropping out, she had a number of small jobs before she made it big time in music. She has received several awards and nominations for her work.

6. Marc Lamont Hill

Marc Lamont Hill is known for being a commentator on CNN, MSNBC, and Fox News. He attended Carver High School and then went to Morehouse College. However, he dropped out after his freshman year. He eventually finished his education at Temple, receiving his B.S. in education and Spanish in 2000. He teaches Media and Urban Studies at Temple University.
