The Worst Trends Of The Early 2000’s We Hope Never Come Back

We all have mixed feelings about the early 2000’s and the trends that defined the period. There were good days, there were okay days, and there really really bad days. Some of the trends that occurred should’ve never happened at all, and we hope they never come back. Here are the worst trends of the early 2000’s!

Planking

Because for some reason it was cool to lie face down in a bunch of random places and take pictures of people doing it.

Gangnam Style

Literally just a Korean pop song… it’s not much weirder than anything else in K-pop.

Everyone’s “goth” phase

I’d say a good 90% of young kids had a goth phase at some point in the early 2000’s. Definitely one of the worst trends of the early 2000’s!

Bedazzling

Bedazzling, or the art of putting cheap looking “gems” all over EVERYTHING you own. Most of us owned our own bedazzling machine, too.

Frosted tips

The hair-dying craze that SO. MANY. PEOPLE. followed… looking back I feel like we’re all just thinking: why?

Silly Bandz

If you didn’t have tiny cheap rubber bands in the shape of an exotic animal or food, then you just weren’t one of the cool kids.

Tebowing

Similarly to planking, for some reason it was funny to copy Tim Tebow’s signature kneeling position for when he’s praying during games. Do it literally anywhere and have a friend snap a picture of you and that was just the funniest thing of the week… apparently? Just let Tebow do his own thing, please.

Re-creating weird stock photos

Sometimes called “stocking,” again, this is such a pointless one. Stock photos can be really hilarious sometimes, but just because something is funny doesn’t mean we all have to copy it.

The cinnamon challenge

Who even thought this one was a good idea? WAY too many people literally choked on cinnamon trying to finish this senseless “challenge.”
