Why Women Making The First Move Is Bold AF

Real talk, ladies. It can be hard out there in the dating world, and sometimes it’s intimidating when you’re interested in someone but are nervous about making the first move. Women were once told that men were to pursue them, not the other way around…but it’s the 21st century, so it’s time to get real! Women are just as capable of making the first move as men are, and in some cases, it’s probably even better. So here is why women making the first move is bold AF!

It shows off your confidence

Confidence is sexy, my friends! When women make the first move, it shows the participant that they’re comfortable in their own skin and are not afraid of rejection. If you are confident in yourself and your actions, then you have nothing to worry about when it comes to making the first move. Confidence is probably one of the best traits for someone to have, and honestly, it’ll probably be a turn on that you approached them first for whoever it is you’re going after in the first place.

Technology is on your side

In the era of dating apps and social media, it has never been easier for women to make the first move. Technology has made it so easy that all you have to do is message a guy for them to know that you’re interested! Sure, this isn’t as bold as directly approaching someone at a bar or a club, but it still gets the job done, and it’s a significant first step, especially for those of us who don’t frequent going out too often. It’s also become more common for women to have to make the first move when it comes to online dating through apps such as bumble where it requires ladies to speak first. So go for it, girl! Slide into those DMs, send them that cute selfie, and get your flirt on! Let him know that you’re interested and see what happens next.

Nothing happens unless you do something to make it happen

This is pretty obvious if you stare longingly at a guy from across the bar, sure, maybe he’ll see you and approach you first but perhaps he won’t! People are not mind-readers, and guys aren’t nearly as bold as they’re portrayed to be, most of them are probably just as nervous about approaching you as you are them. So if no one makes a move, then it’s certain that nothing will happen. Women making the first move not only puts you in control of your own life, but it also gets the ball rolling, and allows you the opportunity to see what could happen. If you want something, you have to do something to get it, and while that may be an aggressive approach to dating, it’s still true!

It helps break stereotypes!

We are continually striving to break stereotypes every day, especially when it comes to gender binaries and how people believe men and women should act when it comes to dating and relationships. Chances are you were taught at one point in your life that there is a proper way to do things when it comes to dating, (i.e., the man must approach you, the man must ask you out, the man must pay, etc.) and as the time goes on, we’re learning that this is merely not true! Women making the first move helps break us out of these stereotypical ideas of what it means to date and teaches women that it’s perfectly okay to show your interest in a man before he shows his interest in you.

Rejection shouldn’t be as scary as it’s made out to be

Part of the reason why women don’t usually make the first move is out of fear of rejection. However, this has not stopped men, so why should it stop women? Women making the first move helps teach us that rejection is a part of life, go after what you want without expectations, and you may be surprised by how it works out for you! If by chance things don’t go the way you hoped they would, and you get rejected, don’t take it to heart, know that it happens, and just move on.
