Going blonde, especially in the summer months, comes with a lot of hassles: turning green in the pool, turning yellow in the sun, etc. When it comes to combating brassiness or color-correcting weird hues that can work its way into your hair, a purple/violet shampoo (and maybe a conditioner, too) should be your go-to this season when washing up. Check out my 7 best recommendations for purple shampoo below!
This one, found on Davines website for $27 with the conditioner costing a couple bucks more, has BY FAR the best reviews online. They market this shampoo and conditioner line for those with platinum and cool blondes. It’s perfect because it cancels out the brassy tones while replacing it with a cool grey hue, rather than the purple shadows left in place by other toning products for blondes.
The Clairol Shimmer Lights shampoo (and conditioner) are probably the toning and cleaning products that come up most when you’re searching for articles like this one. Found for only $8.99 a piece from Target, this option is a classic that doesn’t break the bank either! Clairol, via Target, advertises this product as aluminum-free, as well, for those of you that are weary of the controversial ingredient in beauty and hygiene products.
This one, by Paul Mitchell, is a good option for mid-range buyers out here who doesn’t want to break the bank, but wants to invest a bit into maintaining their hair color. This one sits at $15 on Ulta.com and is great for boosting up your hair’s shine. Remember to get as much hydration as you can when you’re color treating your hair!
This one, from dpHue, stands at $24.00 on Sephora.com. Even though it’s a little pricier than other options on this list, the Cool Blonde shampoo is worth it. It’s a more gentle cleanser option, that doesn’t strip the moisture out of your hair, but it does provide a lot of color correction for platinum and blonde hair. If you’re looking to try it out, this one’s good too, because you can get a sample from Sephora and see the results for yourself before committing to another option. P.S. it’s also gluten-free!
This one, Daddy-O from Lush Cosmetics, is an amazing vegan-friendly purple shampoo option that, despite it only being $11.95, fits right in line with the best. It is, of course, an all natural product, which ensures that your hair is getting treated with nothing but the best ingredients. One super cool thing about this one, too, is that it acts doubly as a hair fragrance! With bergamot oil, rose, and violet leaf, this one is sure to keep your hair, not only looking and feeling great, but smelling great, too!
Another middle-priced purple shampoo option for toning cleansing products is the TIGI Dumb Blonde Violet Toning Shampoo. This one stands at $17.99 on Ulta.com and is super effective for neutralizing brass in platinum and blonde hair. It’s also great at reducing split-ends and controls frizz, so if your hair is on the dryer side (and most of us’ are when we use bleach), this one is a great option for you.
For another budget-friendly option, the Not Your Mother’s Blonde Moment Treatment is a great option to beat away brassiness from forming in your blonde hair. It’s only $7.79 from Target and is targeted, in my opinion, for prevention of that yellow-y tinge, or if you don’t have too much to try to tone out. It’s not as strong as some of my other options for purple shampoo, but it does the enough to earn it a spot on this list.
