8 Ways To Make Your Apartment Look Amazing

Whether you are moving out into the world by yourself or living with others, having your own apartment is a HUGE step in life. There are no more rules besides your own, and your space is YOURS. Here are 8 ways to make your apartment look absolutely amazing.

1. Let’s start with your lighting

Lighting is such a magical thing to use in apartments. It changes the whole outlook of how your apartment will look. The best advice I can give you is to try out different types of lighting. Do some research and find what you like. Then recreate what inspires you.

For instance, if you like a cozier feel, you may want to try getting a light dimmer. By lowering the brightness you create that feeling. If you want to add more of an “expensive” taste, adding light fixtures that you can place next to any arrangements of furniture. The great thing about lighting is that it doesn’t have to cost a lot for you to have great lighting. Places such as secondhand stores or goodwill are more than likely to have cheap fixtures for lighting.

2. Curtains

Adding curtains is definitely a game-changer. The reason being, it adds a certain type of luxury to the apartment. What we recommend you do is to not buy curtains that are too short. The better option is to buy curtains that are long. If you are able to have curtains start towards the ceiling and come down to the floor, it will give your apartment a whole new look to it. It will feel as if you have more space because it draws your eyes vertically and tricks your mind into thinking the area is more spacious than it already is.

3. Pillows

Adding pillows will instantly make your apartment feel more at home, but will also add an element of design. To make any area look nice, it becomes all about the details. Buying pillows to put on your couch, or chairs, or bedding will elevate the look of the space. If you are a cozy vibe type of person, then adding pillows or throw pillows can access that cozy feel you are trying to accomplish. By adding pillows, it creates texture within a space which in return customizes the apartment to your standards. You will instantly love your place more because it becomes tailored to you!

4. Large pieces of art

Depending on how big your apartment is, will determine how big the pieces of art you should buy. If you have a medium or large apartment, buying big pieces of art will be great. If you have a smaller apartment, you might want to stick to using the medium to small art pieces otherwise it may look too claustrophobic.

Adding art makes the space look more “grown-up”. It shows that you have an appreciation for the beautiful things in life and it can actually be a conversation starter. Also, there will be no need to be worried about how much everything will cost because art comes in a large range of prices. There are secondhand stores that have great pieces of art at low prices.

If you are on a serious budget, you always have the option of creating your own art. Get a blank canvas, add some paint, and wah-lah, you have a master piece! Even photographs that are lying around can be transformed by putting the art in frames!

5. Plants

You may not be a plant person, but maybe you should be? Plants are amazing in lots of different ways. By adding them into your apartment, gives a sense of “life” that’s being added. It’s as if you are putting fresh air and happiness into your home! They are beautiful and elegant. They add to your space especially if you aren’t sure what else you can add. Another great thing about adding some greenery into your life is that there are so many options to choose from. You can do tiny plants, hanging plants, flowers, anything. For every person, there is a plant that is perfect for you!

6. Rugs

Rugs are known to make any room look way bigger than it already does. We aren’t talking about small rugs though. Small rugs happen to make rooms shrink, unfortunately. With large rugs, it completely changes the space. It adds a very expensive feel to the mix.

7. White sheets

If you are going to make one area look amazing for YOU, it’s your bed. This is the place where you sleep, and to have a great night’s sleep, wouldn’t you want to hop into a beautiful, luxurious bedroom set. One where you feel as if you are falling asleep on a cloud?

The solution is to buy white sheets. One of the most adult things you can do is buy a beautiful bedroom set. White looks classy, yet it can go with anything. Adding accessories such as pillows or throw blankets will create the scenery.

8. Walls

Painting your apartment walls are truly a blessing if you are able to do so. The color of your space is so important because it creates the feel of what you are trying to go for. This is your home and how you feel about your home is what makes you happy. People come home to relax, re-energize, and to feel great about themselves. It’s a place to be yourself it a world full of chaos. By painting the walls the way you want to feel, you create a safe haven for yourself.

Think wisely about what colors make you feel good. Are you a girly girl and love shades of pink, purple, light blue, or yellow? Then focus on painting your walls one of those shades.  If you want a more “mature” look try a neutral tone or even a dark shade.
