The years that you’ll spend at Concordia University are supposed to be some of the best ones of your life. Why spend all of your time studying in the LB Building when there’s so much more to do on campus? While this guide is tailored to your major, most of these clubs and associations welcome all students to join. Here are some ways to get involved at Concordia that will make you proud to bee a Stinger!
The Faculty of Arts and Science is the largest of the four faculties at Concordia University. This means that there is an abundance of clubs and opportunities for you to take part in, most of them tailored to your major! Feel like channeling your inner Harvey Specter? Try out for the Concordia Moot Law Society and compete against students across Canada. Attend one of the many Wine & Cheese or networking events that your major’s student-run association hosts to find out more about how to get involved with them. Want to get the essay that you pulled an all-nighter to finish published? Submit it to the Arts and Science Journal, John Molson Business Review, or the Journal of Political Affairs and let your peers read the brilliance that hopefully got you the A+ you deserve. Between the Loyola and Sir George Williams campus, your possibilities are endless!
The number of clubs, workshops, and conferences that you can attend are endless at the John Molson School of Business. There’s everything from a Creative Marketing Conference to North America’s largest stock simulation. If you think you’ve got what it takes, try out for the John Molson Case Competition team and compete against students across Canada. Want a chance at your dream summer internship? Take advantage of the many recruitment and networking events that are held throughout the year. If you’re looking for a fun party on Thursday nights to forget the horrors of COMM 305, head over to Reggies Bar in Concordia’s Hall Building for CASA’s 5 x 8. Whether you’re studying finance, marketing, accounting, or any other business major that Concordia offers, there’s something for everyone. Your network is your net worth.
It’s 3am and you’re just about ready to rip your hair out because your code won’t run, or you can’t solve the equation from your MATH 205 class, and you’re wondering where to meet people outside of the classroom that shares the same frustrations. One of the biggest must-go events that the Engineering and Computer Science faculty holds is the ENGCOMM conference! ENGCOMM is a five-day case competition, hosted at Concordia University, where teams compete with different universities from around the world. Put your skills to test and meet other students at next year’s competition!
You’ve made it through critique classes that either validated your whole existence or completely shattered your heart, you created something that you’re dying to show your friends but don’t know where to do so? Check out Concordia University’s Art Matters festival! Art Matters is the largest student-run art festival in North America, that features around ten exhibits all around the city of Montreal. You can volunteer for the Spring festival, curate the exhibits, or submit your own artwork. Is film production more of your forte? The Concordia Film Festival might be perfect for you! The CFF showcase films made by Concordia students. Time to get those creative juices flowing!
