There are somethings that other dorms just don’t get about Clark Kerr at UC Berkeley. They can try to sympathize by complaining about their oh so difficult 5 MIN walk to campus. But really, we know what’s up.

1. Tango of the Two Classes

A lot of the time my classes are too close together to go back to my dorm, but they’re too far apart to want to stay on campus. Usually, it ends up being a time to chill at GBC and aggressively refresh the insta feed.

2. Lunch Is Not a Thing

Honestly, I have racked up ubereats charges because there is just no lunch in Clark Kerr. Brunch is great on the weekends, don’t get me wrong, but it’s a stressful thing to try and get food before 9:30am.

3. R.I.P. to Memorial Gym

I can’t name one living soul in Clark Kerr who goes to the RSF. It is just not a thing. Memorial gym was perfect because it was so much closer and less crowded. Now that it’s closed, people treat working out like it’s a planned field trip.

4. What is Phone Service?

Don’t even try to text me. Clark Kerr doesn’t even give me one measly bar. I’ve had to resort to old school Facebook messaging.

5. Forgetting A Textbook is Serious Business

I’m pretty healthy in general but I have definitely almost had heart attacks when I thought I’d forgotten an essay due that day. That’s why Clark Kerr residents have learned the importance of triple checking.

6. Clark Kerr Demographics

Clark Kerr has its own demographics. Everyone is either in Greek life or on an athletics team. Being in class, your realize its the minority not the majority. Betty isn’t going to be in class talking about her crazy night at Phi Kappa Superfrat.

7. Sneaking Onto the Roof

The roof is terrifying to get up on but once you’re there, it’s ridiculously rewarding. You can usually find people having some great conversations there. I guess there’s a direct correlation between a higher elevation and a more meaningful conversation.

8. Architecture

I’m not the most aesthetic person, but even I can tell the architecture at Clark Kerr is amazing. It has its own charm, and it’s a great break from the just wonderful architecture of Main Stacks.

9. Being Surrounded By Nature

Clark Kerr is literally right next to the forest. A friend once told me that he was studying at 4am one night, and saw a family of deer outside the window. It’s times like those where you realize just how lucky you are to live here.

10. Greek Row is So Close

We’re right by the frats and it’s a great time. That means when you want to chill with your friends in their house, you don’t need to call an Uber. Who cares if classes are far away?
