These Halloween Costumes Are Squadghouls

Before we know it, the Halloween season will soon be creeping upon us. This time of year always boasts a ton of exciting prospects: having a perfect excuse to binge on all the sweets you can possibly put away, alongside decorating your home with all the horror you can imagine (keep an eye out for my other article, ‘15 Over The Top Halloween Decorations‘ for some creative inspiration!). You may even find yourself accepting invitations to some pretty epic parties – meaning you and your friends may be in serious need of some exciting costume ideas!

Of course, Halloween is ultimately a Scarefest! But as Mean Girls famously taught us, our costumes don’t always have to be… well, scary. Whichever is your style, we’ve put together the best group costumes which will render every outsider envious of how well you’ve mastered your ‘Squadghouls’ game.

1. Mean Girls

Naturally, we’d start with these characters who taught us the ropes to Halloween costuming. They may not be the spookiest of icons, but you and your girls are certainly bound to give everyone else a chill as you walk through the door. Etsy does a great collection of outfits for this occasion (as pictured below) – but if you’re really on a budget, just make sure you wear pink!

2. The Scooby Gang

Okay, so these guys may not be the baddies – but they DO hunt the baddies! Also, name me a better squad in your childhood than this gang? Your own group is bound to set the standard dressed up like these. To get the collective look, try Halloweencostumes.co.uk – they’ll be able to sort every member of your crew out!

3. Superheroes

Whether you’re team Marvel or team DC, there will be plenty of costume possibilities for a slightly larger friendship group. Plus, with Avengers: Endgame still fresh in everyone’s minds, you guys are certainly going to be relevant this coming Halloween. These costumes are more than easy to find online, with nearly every outlet selling inspired merchandise – so knock yourselves out!

4. … Or Supervillains (Suicide Squad)

The one thing that the Suicide squad has over typical superheroes is kind of in the name… they’re actually known as a squad. Plus, they’re villains, which also lives up to the Halloween theme! Gear up your own squad with all the face paint and hair dye you can get your hands on; fancydress.com will help with the costumes!

5. Aliens from Toy Story

Don’t tell me you weren’t freaked out by these as a kid? To celebrate the new release of Toy Story 4, why not bring back everyone else’s fears? Many costume websites actually do these outfits now, but for those of you who can’t afford to spend much, you can recreate the look by merely purchasing an alien head from Amazon, and then sporting some blue jeans and a blue T-shirt.

6. The Ghostbusters

Who you gonna call? SQUADbusters! Because surely rocking this group look will be busting all other squad attempts out there? To get the look, Amazon offers some pretty well-priced costumes, or if you want to fit the seasonal theme slightly better, Halloweencostumes.co.uk offer an inflatable Ghostbusters-inspired ghost costume.

7. Power Rangers

If you’re running a little late in securing your group Halloween costumes this year, not to worry, as Amazon have got these themed outfits ready to go on Prime – some as cheap as $17 each! The only difficult task you’ve got now is fighting over who gets which color.

8. The Harry Potter Gang

Many of us associate Halloween with dressing up as wizards and witches – so these guys count, right? Harry Potter stole our hearts with its warming relationships and focus on how important our friends are to helping us succeed. It, therefore, seems very fitting to embody that within our own group. You’ll be able to find Hogwarts robes just about anywhere you look online, so that shouldn’t be any hassle! If you’re looking to rock a scarier vibe, you could always go as Voldemort and his squad.

9. Zombie Smurfs

If cute is more your group’s style, then you can always just forego the zombification. But this is Halloween, and converting these lovable creatures into monsters is actually surprisingly easy. Firstly, order your gnome hat, throw on some white garments, paint yourself blue and then add on the extra gory details using face paint or makeup.

10. Disney Princesses

Belle? Elsa? Snow White? Alice? Whichever is your favorite, one thing’s for sure – you certainly won’t be stuck allocating everyone in your team a character. Fancydress.com sell every Disney Princess costume you’ll ever need to accommodate the whole of your squad. Or maybe you could shake it up? Maleficent, Jafar and Ursula are merely a few of Disney’s many iconic villains!

11. The Addams Family

What better way to rock this year’s Halloween than to transform into the creepiest, most gothic family to ever hit our screens? It’s also an incredibly simple collective look to pull off. For the most part, you’ll need to raid your wardrobe for plenty of dark clothing (black suit/black dress). The rest will be down to some creative yet seriously gothic makeup artistry – pale skin, dark undertone to eyes and red/black lips.

12. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Not only do these characters collectively scream ‘Squadghouls’, but they’ll also give each member of your crew a chance to symbolize their own personality quirk that they bring to the group. Whether you’re the leader, the joker, the brainy or the mischievous one – we’ll leave that up to you guys to decide between you! As to looking the part, Amazon has each character’s individual costume available.
