The Cutest DIY Decorations For Christmas

DIY decorations are a great way to ring in your holiday cheer. DIY projects are relatively cheaper than buying holiday decor, so why not save money this holiday season!

1. “JOY” Wine Bottles

These sleek and beautiful wine bottles will bring Christmas cheer to your home. All you need for these DIY decorations are 3 empty wine bottles, white paint, red paint, twine, and fake red berries on stems.

First, make sure your wine bottle are empty and cleaned out and dried. Second, paint all three bottles white and wait for them to dry. Third, once the bottles are dry paint a “J” on one, a snowflake on another, and a “Y” on the last one and wait until dry. Fourth, using a hot glue gun, glue twine to the neck of the bottle. Fifth, add your fake berries into the bottle, making them stick out the top.

2. Hanging Window Ornaments

All you need for these DIY decorations are ribbon, ornaments, and some way to hang the ribbon from the top of your window sill.

First, measure out the length of your ribbon to make sure the ornament is not hanging too high or too low for your tastes. Second, tie one end of your ribbon to the top of the ornament. Third, hang the other side of the ribbon from the top of the window sill in your preferred way. Command strips are a great starting place if you do not know how to hang them.

3. Yarn Christmas Tree

All you need for these DIY decorations are a styrofoam tree, Elmers glue, and your choice of yarn.

First, Start wrapping a few strands of yarn around the styrofoam base. Second, add glue and brush it over the top until it covers the yarn. Repeat the first two steps until you are satisfied with the amount of string, then let dry. Then, remove the styrofoam once it is dry and you are set!

4. Pinecones and Fairy Lights in A Vase

These DIY decorations are super easy and simple. All you need for these DIY decorations is a clear vase, pinecones, straw, and some battery pack fairy lights.

First, place the battery pack of the fairy lights in the bottom of the vase, then layer some straw over top to hide it. Then add pinecones a couple at a time making sure to wind the string of lights through them.

5. “O Holy Night” Gold Mason Jars

All you need for these DIY decorations are four mason jars, gold paint, white paint, a shallow wooden box, a paintbrush, twine, and fake flowers.

First, make sure the mason jars are clean, then cover them in gold paint and wait for them to dry. Second, while the gold paint is drying take your white paint and paint the phrase “O Holy Night” on the front of your shallow wooden box.

Third, once the jars are dry tie a twine ribbon around the top of the jar and add in your fake flowers. Fourth, put all the jars into the shallow wooden box and place somewhere in your home!

6. Flat Christmas Tree

This is a DIY decoration perfect for people living in small spaces that do not have room for a regular Christmas tree.

All you need for these DIY decorations are Christmas tree garland, and two wooden sticks to make the triangle for the tree.

First, create your base for the tree with the wood. Second, wrap the garland around the frame until you reach the bottom. If you want to make sure that your garland stays in place, buy some wire and wire them to the frame.

7. Yarn Snowman

The process is going to be similar for the yarn snowman as it was for the yarn Christmas trees. But, to put the two spheres together you will need to use a hot glue gun. You can also buy felt to create the hat, eyes, nose, and buttons and then add sticks from your yard for the arms. Using a hot glue gun to attach these pieces may be the best option.

8. Pinecone Christmas Tree

If you don’t have room for a traditional tree, but still want to spice up your house for the holidays try this DIY decoration.

All you need are battery-packed fairy lights, pinecone, and a hot glue gun.

First, hot glue pinecones together in a circle, so you have a base. Second, stick the battery pack in the center and leave the rest of the string hanging out. Third, continue to hot glue pinecone to together in a tree shape. Fourth, wrap the rest of the lights all the way around the pinecone tree!

This chic design makes for a beautiful addition to any home. All you need for these DIY decorations are and wooden triangle base, string, and ornaments.

For this DIY you can attach the string in a few different ways, my favorite is just to hot glue the end to each side of the wooden triangle. Then add your ornaments and you are done!

All you need for these DIY decorations are red and white paint, paintbrushes, string, fake florals, and sleigh bells.

First, paint the mason jars. I find using painters tape works the best when doing this project. Second, once the paint is dry ties your string and sleigh bells to the top of the jar. Third, add your fake plants or berries into the jar!

All you need for these DIY decorations are felt in the colors you want, stuffing, and needle and thread.

First, cut out all your felt shapes and lay them together. Take two pieces of the bulbs and sew them together, stop when you hit the neck of the bulb. Second, add the stuffing into the bulb. Third, take your white felt rectangle and fold it in half so it goes over the end of the bulb. Fourth, sew the bulb shut.
