The Best Sunglasses For Your Face Shape

One of the first things that I think about when the warm weather hits are sunglasses. But, it’s not just any sunglasses, nope! The one question that comes up all the time is, “What are the best sunglasses for my face type?” Do you find yourself asking the same question? If so, then you’re not alone—at least, I’m with you! Given that there are various face shapes, you can imagine that not all types of sunglasses work on each face type. You need to take into your cheekbones, forehead, and what makes your face round versus square, BEFORE you pick up your next pair of sunnies.

Now, these things may sound a little technical. Who wants to go through such a hassle to find the perfect glasses, right? Wrong! Why? Because there’s no hassle, really. As long as you know your face shape, you can get right to work—all you need to know is what the experts say will look good!

So, before you go shopping for shades, here’s a breakdown on the best sunglasses for each face shape.

1. Round

Opt for anything that’s rectangular, squared, or cat-eyed in shape. Cat eye sunglasses look extra flattering on people who have a heavy face towards the chin—those with a round face! The cat eye look is our particular favorite because it helps accentuate the face just in the right places—the shape of this frame helps balance out all of your features. And, if you don’t believe us, see how Selena Gomez rocks the cat eye trend like no other!

2. Oval

After a square shaped face, the oval is the most common type of visage. If you have an oval-shaped face, opt for something that is rectangular or squared. A pair of wayfarers will help enhance your look just perfectly. If you have an oval face, this means that you have high cheekbones (lucky you!), so you want the frame to sit nicely on your cheekbones and help highlight that area of your face.

3. Heart

How about you opt for something that’s chunky, cat-eyed, or aviator style? A heart-shaped face is so distinguishable and you need just the right type of sunnies to complement the shape. Cat-eyes or something chunky will help balance a pointy chin and high cheekbones. With the cat-eye look being extra trendy this year, I would suggest finding a chunky, or thick-rimmed, cat-eyed pair of sunglasses to rock in summer 2019.

4. Diamond

If you have a diamond-shaped face, know that you’re a rare gem (good joke? I thought so, too!)! The diamond face has a narrow forehead and high cheekbones. Keeping that in mind, what’s the best pair of sunglasses for this shape? Oval, round-rimmed, or cat-eye, of course! Are you noticing that the cat-eye look is suitable for almost any face type? Versatility at it’s best!

5. Square

Do you have a wider hairline and jaw, if so, then you have a square-shaped face, girl! If you’re hunting for the best sunglasses then soft rimmed ones are your best friend. A nice pair of oval or round-rimmed glasses will make sure you keep your features balanced; these types of sunnies will also accentuate that killer jawline! Take it from Angelina Jolie, who’s always rocking a pair of sunglasses like a pro.
