The Best Fall Break Spots To See The Autumn Foliage

Fall foliage is such a breathtaking sight to see. The trees seem as though they’ve been painted by artists, and no two are the same. This fall, if you find yourself itching to be surrounded in a sea of rich reds, deep oranges, and vibrant yellows, here’s a list of fall break spots to see the gorgeous autumn foliage.

Boston Public Gardens − Boston, Massachusetts

The Boston Public Gardens is a 24-acre park adjacent to Boston Commons. This park is gorgeous all year round, but it always seems to feel even warmer and welcoming in the fall. Check out local events that are always happening at the gardens, and enjoy the crisp Boston air in autumn.

Smoky Mountains − North Carolina/Tennessee

The Smoky Mountains lay in between the border of North Carolina and Tennessee. There are plenty of cabins to rent, and different trails and attractions in both states to enjoy. Book a long weekend with some hiking buddies and enjoy scenic fall trails.

Grounds For Sculpture − Hamilton, New Jersey

This outdoor sculpture park and museum spans across 42 acres and is home to over 300 different artworks! The Grounds For Sculpture has an exhibit called Tunnel of Trees that, during the fall, looks like it was plucked straight from a fairytale. Enjoy this oasis of art and get lost on your journey from sculpture to sculpture.

Acadia National Park − Bar Harbor, Maine

Acadia National Park in Bar Harbor, Maine, is a 47,000-acre park located on Mount Desert Island. There are all types of terrain, from rocky beaches to endless forests and mountain peaks and Acadia National Park is home to different wildlife like moose, bears, and even whales in the surrounding shores. The local town of Bar Harbor has restaurants and shops if you’re looking for something to do after you visit the park.

The White Mountains − New Hampshire

The White Mountains are part of the Northern Appalachian mountains and cover about 1/4 of New Hampshire, and a small portion of Maine as well. There are mountains of all heights and elevations, with Mount Washington ranking tallest at 6,289 feet. There are dozens of trails and paths to explore in these mountains, and the scenery is extra breathtaking when it is doused in fall colors.

Roger Williams Park − Providence, Rhode Island

Roger Williams Park is home to 102 acres of woodland and farmland. The park is a beautiful walk through during the fall, with endless paths and routes to follow on foot. Inside the park, there are biking trails, playgrounds, baseball fields, boating, and there are even a few little free libraries for you to take a free book, and leave one behind for others. Also, visit the local Botanical Gardens or the Franklin Park Zoo for some more fun and exciting sights.

Central Park − New York City, New York

A notorious place to visit on all breaks in New York City is Central Park, which is stunning all year round. The glow of the amber fall colors just warms the soul, and you’ll find yourself slowing down as you walk to capture all of the beauty. Reds, oranges, yellows, and greens as far as the eye can see. Needless to say, there is all of New York City to also explore while you’re enjoying Central Park, so have fun and just go where the city takes you.
