If you’re not involved in Greek Life, it can be difficult to understand the ins and outs of what it’s all about. Sometimes people can get so wrapped up in the misconceptions of sorority rush that they never learn what it’s really like to be a part of Greek Life. If you’re not in a sorority, here are some things that you may have heard, but are definitely NOT true.
Rush and Bid Day videos don’t help this stereotype. Besides during recruitment, most of the girls are sitting in bed with a oversized shirt on watching Netflix.
Even though they live together, they still have lots of friends outside of Greek Life.
As long as you’re not dressed inappropriately, the girls don’t care what you look like.
Most sororities don’t require you to live in the house
This is the biggest lie. A lot of time is dedicated to meetings and organizing events.
The girls really don’t care how you look. If you have a great personality, it will show no matter what.
Not everyone in your sorority is best friends with each other, but when you do make friends through Greek Life it is like family; and that can’t be bought.
