10 Shows That Will Make You Laugh on Netflix

Finding mindless entertainment shows on Netflix can be hard, especially if you feel like you’ve exhausted all of your options. I love putting on shows that I don’t necessarily need to know what’s going on in the plot to enjoy the show, especially ones that make me laugh. Here are 10 shows to watch on Netflix that will make you laugh.

1. John Mulaney: Kid Gorgeous

John Mulaney is one of the funniest comedians who I can also comfortably watch in front of my parents without being scared he will say something out of pocket that I wouldn’t want to explain to my mother. My roommates and I quote all of his Netflix specials daily, and I never get tired of watching them. Kid Gorgeous is John Mulaney’s most recent Netflix release, where he is live at Radio City Music Hall. Mulaney talks about school assemblies, the state of politics in our country and even the invention of the gazebo. It makes me laugh until I cry, and I recommend any of his specials if you’re ever in the mood to laugh.

2. Schitt’s Creek

If you haven’t heard about this show yet I would be genuinely surprised. Schitt’s Creek follows the Rose family, who have their wealth ripped out from under them and they are forced to move into a motel in a town they once purchased as a joke. Eugene Levy and Catherine O’Hara play Moira and Johnny Rose, parents of David and Alexis, who are forced to start their once-glamorous lives over in a place they never would be caught dead in. It’s hysterical, it makes you feel good, and you’ll find yourself ew, David to everything.

3. New Girl

Zooey Deschanel stars as Jessica Day, a quirky teacher recently dumped who moves into a loft apartment with three men: Winston, Schmidt and Nick. Living with these three characters proves to be crazy, and there are many celebrity cameos including Megan Fox, Taylor Swift and Prince. There are love interests, there are iconic lines and episodes are only 20 minutes or so, so you’re bound to binge watch an entire season in a day. The banter throughout the entire show is so funny and the unique relationships are enough for me to have watched this on Netflix many times over.

4. Girlfriend’s Guide To Divorce

We all love a good show about how a successful relationship novelist loses her sense of identity when she finds herself getting a divorce from her husband. From there, Lisa Edelstein relies on her girlfriends to get her through this tough time. It’s the perfect balance of feel-good, raunchy and wit that make for a great show to binge on Netflix. Dramadies such as this one lighten the mood without being cheesy, and you truly will find yourself rooting for this women as you watch them battle motherhood and being single.

5. Good Girls

When three moms find themselves facing major financial crises, they turn to robbing a grocery store to save themselves. Upon finding out that they actually robbed a drug lord, the women find themselves in the middle of a money laundering scheme. The trials and tribulations of working in the drug dealing business while balancing being a mother and wife takes quite the toll on the women. In pursuit of taking their lives back, they find themselves facing absurd conditions that put them in life or death situations.

6. Grace and Frankie

Two polar opposite women whose husbands work at a law firm together find themselves living in a beach house as their husbands left them for each other. The beach house is the only place for Grace and Frankie to stay while they grapple with divorcing their husbands so late in their lives. Grace appreciates the finer things in life, and does not understand Frankie’s hippie lifestyle. The two are bound to kill each other if they stay in the house, but they don’t have another choice. Obviously, they end up becoming the best of friends through weird circumstance. It’s a great Netflix show with some older actors such as Jane Fonda and Martin Sheen.

7. Shameless

A huge, dysfunctional, raunchy group called the Gallaghers are trying to stay afloat with two alcoholic, drug addicted, deadbeat parents. This show on Netflix follows each member of the family as they grow up and have to scheme their way to survive. Naturally, nothing is easy for the Gallaghers, and you would not believe some of the situations this family finds themselves in. All the family wants is to escape their pesky alcoholic father, Frank, who just can’t seem to leave them alone no matter what the try. It’ll have you laughing, and there’s plenty of seasons on Netflix to watch for when you’re bored.

8. Arrested Development

Another Netflix show that deals with a once wealthy family who loses it all? Sign us up. This sitcom starring Jason Bateman follows him as he is forced to stay in Orange County and run the family real estate business that his father left behind after being sent to prison. It is another show with an out of this world, unbelievable family whose once-spoiled needs are no longer able to be met. Bateman asks his estranged twin sister, her daughter and husband to live with him and his son, only adding to the craziness and absurdity of the family.

9. Sex Education

Otis has tons of questions when it comes to sex, but would never ask his sex therapist mother for advice. His mom’s reputable advice as a sex therapist comes in handy when rebellious Maeve suggests Otis run a sex advice clinic at school. Otis falls in love with Maeve during their work together, but cannot seem to get it together in order to communicate those feelings. A funny take on how sex is talked about and viewed in society and our school systems, this Netflix series hyperbolizes sexual interactions and will have you laughing along with them.

10. The End of the F******* World

This dark British comedy follows James, who knows he is bound to become a psychopathic murderer, finds his plans derailed when he meets Alyssa. Alyssa is equally as emotionless as James, and together they decide to run away on a trip cross country. When the two continuously commit crime upon crime, they begin to realize there is indeed love within their hearts, so are they really these ruthless killers after all? Netflix’s take on this comic series is super good, darkly funny and you will binge it in a few days, guaranteed.

Netflix has tons of comedy TV for those who just want to laugh. Let me know your favorites in the comments!
