How To Plan The Perfect Movie Night

Movie night is one of my favorite activities to do with friends! There is nothing better than watching a movie and discussing what we liked or hated about the film after we are done watching it. Movies are perfect for watching with your favorite company and there is no better way to watch a movie than hosting a movie night. Hosting a movie night gives you the opportunity to go all out to entertain your friends. It is a simple and fun way to spend time with them. Here are some tips to help you plan the perfect movie night!

1. Choose a theme!

If you want a movie night to remember, why not pick a theme? Are your friends really into horror films, why not host a “Scary Movie Marathon?” Is there a series you all love like “Game of Thrones” or “Supernatural”? Why don’t you theme your night around those shows? Choosing a theme could also make other aspects of the planning process easier. You could center the food and decorations around that theme. Yes, you read decorations. Adding a few themed decorations will make your night more fun. Whether it is posters on the wall or quotes from the movie taped everywhere around the viewing area, no decoration will go unnoticed. It will be details that all of your friends will enjoy!

2. Bring on the food!

A movie is not complete without snacks! Have you ever been to a movie theater? They are drowning in them. Bring the movie theater experience to your home by providing all of the essential snacks including: popcorn, red vines, M&M’s, Milk Duds, the works. You can also provide the main course to match the movie you are watching. For instance, are you going to watch the cinematic masterpiece that is Breakfast at Tiffany’s? Why not provide some croissants and coffee for your guests. If you are watching Eat Pray Love,  you can order an Italian pizza or some Indian cuisine. Be creative! It will make for a fun time.

3. Provide the comfort!

Make sure your guests are comfortable. Bring in as many pillows and blankets as you can find. The more comfortable you and your guests are, the more enjoyable the movie will become. Make it a full on sleepover if you want to stay up and discuss the movie all night. There is no better way to watch a movie than nestled in between a bunch of pillows and covered to the neck by blankets. Just make sure no one falls asleep during the movie. How else will you be able to talk about it after it’s over?

4. Movie Talk Time

Movies are meant to be discussed and who better to discuss them with than with your friends! Make sure you plan your night accordingly, so you have plenty of time to discuss what you just watched. If you want to make a fun game out of it, quiz each other on specific parts of the movie and provide a prize for the winner. Movies become more enjoyable when you gain insight into people’s opinions of different films. This is the perfect opportunity to learn about your friends tastes in films. The more you learn about each other’s tastes the better future movie nights will be and the more fun you will all have!
