The University of Washington has the typical reasons for choosing to attend such as spirit, quality of education, and overall personality of the student body; but, there is so much more to the university than just that. I hope that I can give justice to some of my favorite parts of UW. These are the top 5 reasons why I chose to go to UW!
As a band kid in high school, I knew that I had to go somewhere with a marching band. I had always pictured myself being a student at the University of Washington, but when I met the band at their annual Junior/Senior Day, I was hooked.
Being someone from eastern Washington state, I grew up being thirty minutes from many lakes and rivers and knew I had to go to college somewhere close to the water. My major, aquatics, and fisheries, also needed to be to be close to water to enrich my education with trips to the field. The Puget Sound provides many beautiful sights in Seattle and provides me many places to do future research.
The coffee shops both on and off campus at the University of Washington provide both quiet and loud atmospheres so that everyone has a place to go to study or chill. From Parnassus in the Art Building to the many Starbucks to Post Alley Café, there is somewhere for everyone.
Annually the cherry blossoms in the quad at the University of Washington blossom and create a dazzling view of pink right in the middle of campus.
When visiting after I received my acceptance, the cherry blossoms were in middle of their bloom season and I couldn’t imagine going somewhere with more beauty that the University of Washington.
Wherever you go, near or far, on or off campus, there is bound to be at least five pho places within walking distance which is incredibly nice on both the pocket and stomach of a starving college student. Nothing makes you more filled with comfort than a big, hot bowl of pho.
