5 Reasons I’m Excited To Start At Charleston

Choosing the right college was one of the most difficult decisions in my life. There were so many potential choices, but Charleston stood out to me and caught my eye right away! These are the reasons why I am excited to start at the College of Charleston!!

1. Data science course

The College of Charleston built a powerful tradition through liberal arts and science programs. But, what interests me the most is their data science course, which is the first one of that kind ever established in the U.S. Data science. I read about it a lot and found that course professors are renowned IT specialists who combine teaching part with practical lessons and state-of-the-art technologies. Since the computer has always been my most beloved toy, I am definitely excited to expand knowledge at Charleston.

2. The beach

I’ve seen tons of photos of the Charleston College campus and it’s more than enough to make me excited about the start of my studies. What I really like is how local beaches look like! Coming from Norfolk, Virginia, I can’t imagine my college years go by without the seaside. This campus is definitely one of the most beautiful on the east coast, so I’ll make sure to check it out thoroughly.

3. The basketball team

I can’t wait to join my new basketball squad, the Charleston Cougars! They play in the NCAA Division I, competing in the Colonial Athletic Association. Ever since coach Earl Grant took over the team, the Cougars have been advancing steadily. Coach Earl discovered some serious talents and I really hope he can improve my power forward skills.

4. Student Life – the band

The College of Charleston is famous for student life opportunities. Whether you want to join the movie club, the “go green” societies, or art groups – it is all there. For me, it’s the music that matters the most and I already made contacts with a few student-musicians there. We agreed to form a band or at least to give it a try and see how it goes.

5. It’s history

I strongly believe that the college tradition will add value to my diploma. Many former students became politicians, famous artists, scientists, or athletes. I will work hard and keep fingers crossed to earn my own place in the history books of Charleston College!
