SoHo

SoHo, New York City, which in recent history came to the public’s attention for being the location of many artists’ lofts and art galleries, is now better known for its variety of shops ranging from trendy upscale boutiques to national and international chain store outlets. Even though shopping in SoHo might cost an arm and a leg, this doesn’t mean you have to stroll the streets at a detriment to your wallet.

This embroidered peasant dress perfectly reflects SoHo’s vibe: effortlessly stylish. Reminiscent of flower-power fashions of the past, and remembering that black goes with everything, this pocketed one-piece ensemble makes a flowy and fun city look serious for a walk into high-end boutiques.

At less than $30, and also available in white for hotter days, they pair perfectly with F21’s peep- toe wedge heels, which compliments the dress in black or white. Wedges are ideal of walking in the city if you have to do your walking in heels, since the platform offers more surface area to stand on than any kind of stiletto.

A faux leather fold-over clutch in whatever color suits your mood is a lightweight purse option that can guarantee you won’t be doing heavy lifting, at least until you get your shopping done! Even then, the clutch is perfect for popping into a shopping bag to leave your hands free for what else? More shopping!

Theater District

Midtown Manhattan is where most Broadway theaters are located, as well as many other movie theaters, restaurants, hotels and other places of entertainment. Extending from West 40th Street to West 54th Street, and from Sixth Avenue to Eighth Avenue, the district also includes Times Square.

The Theater District is nothing but high entertainment and dramatic, and you should be, too! Banana Republic offers a sophisticated, yet modern twist on a classic dress style that is well worth the splurge for a night on Broadway.

This midi dress that is muted in color, is sure to turn heads with the right accessories. Most of the time, I would advocate for comfort and ease with dresses and shoes, but on an evening where you’ll be seated in a cushy, velvety seat for a few hours, I say go all out from price to style! Start by doing so with what I call some “sitting shoes,” a pair of heels that make your legs look great, but might make you cry if you stand up for too long. British online fashion and beauty store ASOS is a great place to grab some lace-up pointed heels that will add a little flirty sass to your cutesy dress. I recommend white for a stark contrast against tanned skin and basic colors. With shoes and a dress like this, wearing a necklace might run you the risk of over-accessorizing, so I would say choose your add-ons carefully!

A single silver bangle and some vintage earrings will add a little glimmer, shimmer and polish to your look for the night. Just in case it gets cold in the theater, pick up this black open collarless F21 blazer to tie it all together.

This New York style outfit may be all over the place in terms of stores, but your emotions will be too once you see what the Great White Way has to offer its visitors!
