6 Natural Tanning Oils That Are Better Than Your Store Bought Lotion

Now that it’s summertime, everyone wants to achieve that natural sun kissed glow. But, how do you do that without damaging your precious skin? I’m so glad you asked. There are a ton of natural tanning oils that can be used that not only work better than anything you can buy in the store, but you probably already have them in your house.

1. Avocado Oil

Unrefined, cold-pressed avocado oil has natural essential fatty acids, vitamins, and leithin, which is fantastic for helping dry skin, as well as achieving that beautiful sun kissed glow.

2. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil just seems to be the remedy for everything, doesn’t it? Well, there’s a good reason for that. Coconut oil, along with many other amazing factors, has a natural SPF (approximately SPF 4) and it is perfect for those with sensitive skin, as even some natural tanning oils can cause skin irritation.

3. Olive Oil

Olive oil is rich in vitamin E, which is a naturally occurring antioxidant with soothing properties that will moisturize your skin while giving you that sun kissed look. Here’s a trick: mix olive oil with a few drops of carrot juice if you want to achieve a darker tan, and/or a few drops of iodine to help prevent your skin from burning.

4. Green Tea Extract or Aloe Vera

One of the most popular ways of preventing/soothing the effects of sunburn is with allow vera, and that is because it is rich in antioxidants and soothing compounds. Green tea extract helps neutralize UV radiation, while aloe vera helps prevent/sooth sunburn.

5. Sunflower Oil

Not only is sunflower oil a great natural moisturizer, but it also is great for tanning. It helps ensure that the skins natural elasticity is maintained, locks in moisture, and also prevents against fine lines and wrinkles.

6. Sesame Oil

Sunflower oil has a natural SPF of about 4 to 6 and is a great compliment to coconut oil. Just be aware that it is a thick, gooey, and strong scented oil and should be used sparingly.

A great recipe for a natural tanning oil that encompasses some of the products discussed in this article is: 80% coconut oil, 10% sunflower oil, 5% sesame oil, and 5% olive oil. Now you can achieve the look of a perfectly bronzed, sun kissed goddess without damaging your precious skin!

Which of these natural tanning oils are you going to try? Let us know in the comments below.
