7 Ways To Live A Minimalist Lifestyle

The idea of a minimalist lifestyle is believing that less is more. A minimalist lifestyle can help improve your health and bank account! Transitioning to a minimalist lifestyle can be hard especially if you’re used hoarding items. As a makeup and sneaker hoarder, I often find myself buying products I want but not necessarily need. It’s gotten to the point where I have over 50 pairs of sneakers and 30 unused lipsticks. If you’re a fellow hoarder trying to get your life together financial and mentally. Here are 7 Ways To Live A Minimalist Lifestyle!

1. Create A List Of Items You Don’t Need

It’s time to go through that huge pile of clothing you’ve been holding onto for years! Don’t forget being a minimalist is all about making life easier by having a certain amount of items you NEED. Its best to make a chart with sections for clothing, shoes, and miscellaneous items. While filling out the list and searching for items, you’ll discover items with shopping tags or havent been used for a couple of years. Do you really need that eyeshadow palette that hasn’t touched since 2014 ?

2. Eliminate Duplicate Items

Do you really need the same pair of thigh high boots in 3 different colors? Have you used the lipstick shades in your makeup bag? If these items aren’t being used, its best to donate it to a local goodwill or give it away to friends and family. Not only are you getting rid of unnecessary items but you’re also helping others. High end items should be sold at luxury thrift stores or websites like Ebay and Poshmark. Depending on the items quality, your earnings could be close the items retail price.

3. Dispose Old Letters And Emails

Minimalist aren’t flooded with tons of emails and letter. There is absolutely no need to keep old billing statements and emails from a few years ago, Keep paperwork and emails that are necessary. If it isn’t an important document like an apartment lease or student loan just throw it in the shredder. Unsubscribe from the millions stores you’ve shopped at once for that 15% discount. Stores tend to send emails about upcoming products and sales to make you spend money for items that aren’t necessary.

4. Create Easier Meals

A Minimalist meal plan is great for people who claim they don’t have time to cook. Meal prepping can help you save time and money. Pick a set day where you prepare meals for the upcoming week. It will help lower utility bills and promote a healthy diet. Try to eat perishable foods before they expiring. We all feel guilty when throwing out an untouched meal that has spoiled.

5. Get Rid Of Unused Apps

Cleaning out certain apps on your phone can help improve the journey of becoming a minimalist. It’s not a necessity to have multiple games, social media and dating apps on your phone. There’s no point of using Tinder, OkCupid and Bumble at the same time. It’s a process of elimination, keep apps that you use daily.
