Our skin is our body’s largest organ. (I know, it’s kind of weird to think about but it’s true!) That means that we should be taking extra special care of it. I mean, college is stressful enough as it is. We don’t have the time or energy to be worrying about wrinkles, acne, and dryness. That is where a good skincare routine comes in. Below are my tips and tricks on how to keep your skin looking it’s very best and the importance of a skin care routine in college.
One person’s routine may work great for them but not so great for you. It doesn’t mean you are doing anything wrong, it just means that you have a different skin type. It’s important to learn what type of skin you have to figure out what type of products will work best for you. Sephora has a great online questionnaire if you aren’t sure where to start. It’s s crucial to have a skin care routine in college.
Is your skin dry all the time? Chances are, you’re not getting enough water. You should be drinking half of your body weight in ounces EVERY SINGLE DAY. I swear you will notice a difference in your skin. If you need help keeping track, try using a reusable water bottle that has the ounces printed it.
If you take one thing away from this article, please make sure it is this. Wash your face at the end of each day!!! I know so many people that fall asleep in their makeup every night and it makes my cringe every time. Our skin is exposed to all the elements everyday, so when you don’t wash it, you’re giving dirt and grime the chance to clog your pores. Which isn’t good. My favorite face wash in by the brand Philosophy. It works on all skin types, is gentle, and removes all dirt and makeup.
There is this misconception that if you have oily skin, you don’t need to moisturize. WRONG! If you forego moisturizing everyday, your skin will overcompensate by producing more oil. Throwing on a little moisturizer before applying your makeup is also a great way to prep your skin for makeup.
Do you know how to get rid of wrinkles and sun spots?? By not getting them in the first place. I promise you, having a skin care routine will be so beneficial to you in the long run.
