How To Style An Oversized Blazer

Blazers are – and always will be – a timeless staple in our wardrobe. You can wear them to work, or on a night out with friends. It is one of the most versatile pieces you could own. Oversized blazers were all the rage in the ’80s and for some time now, we have seen them make a come back on runways and with influencers. They are just as versatile as a traditional blazer, but to make it easier for you, we rallied up seven ways you can style an oversized blazer.

1. Cute and Casual

It’s a common misconception that we have to rock a formal look with a blazer. Even though it’s a blazer, it does not mean you have to dress up your whole look to wear it. It truly looks great when you’re trying to rock a casual day look. Since we are working with an oversized blazer, we can have more freedom with how we style it. If you are trying to keep it casual, pair it with a simple t-shirt and your favourite pair of white sneakers. To give this look a little more oomph, throw on some statement jewellery or swipe on a bright lipstick.

2. Dress Down (in) Denim

If you’re leaving straight from work to happy hour drinks with coworkers, switch your work trousers for a pair of deep blue denim jeans (or other coloured denim, depending on the print or base colour of your oversized blazer.) Style your blazer with denim culottes, skinny jeans, or for something a little more fashion forward, flared jeans. To give your outfit a little more drama, throw on your favourite pair of sunglasses or cross-body purse.

It is such an edgy look to style your oversized blazer with a pair of biker shorts. The pairing shouldn’t make sense, but the blend of formalwear and sportswear somehow works so brilliantly. It’s always bold and fun to blend masculine and feminine elements to your outfit. There’s always an added level of dimension and style when you play around with the two, so why not try that with an oversized blazer? Opt for a tweed or pin-striped blazer and pair it with tapered trousers and a crisp button-down. Accessorize with a silky scarf and stiletto-heeled boots.

Nothing screams fashion forward more than mixing several bold prints together in an outfit.
