10 House Plants To Add Some Green To Your Space

House plants have taken home decor by storm with the emerging of decorative greenery that can keep any room looking fresh and green. From succulents to ferns, the possibilities are endless in using your green thumb to decorate your home. Keep an eye out for the pet-friendly options and flowering options too! Here are 10 house plants to add some green to your space!

1. Pothos Plant

This leafy green plant is a great plant option for those who are starting out their house plant journey. This plant also keeps giving and giving as it does well propagating in water in a sunny spot in your home. This plant can tolerate overwatering and underwatering as you get to know plant parent life and caring for your sprouts!

For all of our animal lovers, this plant is not safe for animals. Keep this plant somewhere safe or choose a more pet-friendly option for your furry friends!

2. Watermelon Peperomia

A fun spin on the classic summertime snack, this houseplant will add some flare to your house plant collection. We love this plant because it is pet-friendly for our pets, so you can keep them out all of the time! The watermelon plant is easy to care for and should be placed in a spot with indirect sunlight in your home.

These plants will stay generally small compared to other foliage plants. Just like the pothos plant, this plant will keep on giving as you can propagate the leaves for a new plant to grow from!

3. Succulent

With succulents, the possibilities are endless with all the variations you can grow. If you do not have a green thumb, then any kind of succulent will work perfectly as you learn how to grow and take care of plants inside your home.

These little plants will need a spot in direct sunlight like a window seel or in front of a window. Some succulents are safe for animals, but do your research before planting these! Take your succulent game up a notch and succulent any fallen leaves to make more tiny succulent plants.

4. Mother-In-Law’s Tongue

Often known as a snake plant or mother-in-law’s tongue, this plant is a great plant for those of us who cannot keep a plant alive! This plant will do well in any part of your house from a dark corner to a sunny spot by a window.

These plants look great in any home because of the long tall leaves that stand and closely resemble a snake or maybe the tongue of your mother-in-law, depending on how you look at it! The snake plant likes to stay pretty dry, so you do not have to worry about forgetting to water your new green friend.

5. Fern

These feathery-looking house plants love their humidity and for their soil to be moist between waterings! This plant will grow bigger and bigger as you continue to care for it. There are lots of varieties to this plant so choose wisely (or choose all of them!) when deciding what kind of fern you want to keep in your home.

If your fern leaves are looking a little brown, give your plant a little mist or extra water to get her looking extra green again!

6. Eucalyptus

Say goodbye to your stress when you welcome eucalyptus stems into your home! Eucalyptus is beneficial for stress and sinus problems and can be used in multiple ways around the house.

One way that you can display your eucalyptus is in the shower. This will allow the steam to release the natural oils within the plant. These oils will help relieve any stress and make your shower smell extra great! Eucalyptus can also be displayed in water or you can let the greenery dry out.

7. Peace Lily

Are you more of a flower girl? Then the peace lily is the plant for you! With beautiful and large green leaves, the Peace Lily will produce lots of white flowers in between the foliage as it grows bigger.

The peace lily loves humidity and regular waterings, so keep an eye on the leaves to see if it needs a little sip. To help with the sunlight processing on this house plant, give them a little rinse to keep them looking clean and beautiful all year long.

It will also do well in a darker room that needs some more green or freshness.

Proceed with caution with this houseplant as they are extremely toxic to animals and children. Always wash your hands after handling your plants to protect your skin!

9. Lipstick Plant

Another option for all of our flower-loving girls, the lipstick plant! These plants will soak up the sun in your brightest part of your home and that’s where the flowers will best!

As these plants grow the vines will soon take over. Display your new greenery with a hanging pot or off of a tall shelf to show off those flowers! Like some of the other plants, this one loves humidity and will love any misting that you give it.

10. Arrowhead Vine

Just like an arrowhead, these leaves will point you in the right direction! These plants like to be left alone and do not require any dramatic watering to take care of these house plants. With the long vines that grow from this plant, you will have vines for days!

This vine can be propagated to make new sprouts to join your growing plant. These plants also come in various colors to add some different tones of green to your home!
