2. Use the BearCLAW.

The BearCLAW is located in the first floor of the Meyer Library. This is intended to help you, as a student! Struggling in math? Drop by the math table and the panel of students will be happy to assist you with your homework, notes, or even take home quizzes.

3. Download Tapingo!

Download the Tapingo app because it is going to be your best friend. Only have 10 minutes in between classes and you’re STARVING? Get on the app and order your food so you can pick it up on the way to your next class. This is a great app to make your life easier at Missouri State University! The lines in the PSU are usually insanely long around lunch time. Avoid the lines by getting this app and ordering your food at the touch of your fingertips.

4. Participate in Bear Wear Fridays!

Bear Wear Fridays is an essential for every MSU student. Support your school by wearing maroon or any bear wear gear.

5. Rain gear is essential!

Being in Springfield means it rains….and it rains a lot! Buy an umbrella. Preferably not one from the dollar store because it is going to break on you. Trust me, I know from personal experience.

6. Get involved – we know it’s hard.

There are so many campus clubs you can join! Put yourself out there and find what is best for you! There are clubs designed for your major like SNO (Student Nursing Organization) or DECA designed for the business and marketing or even public speaking major. By some odd chance that you cannot find a club that is just right for you; Make your own club!

7. Shop at Half-of-Half.

Half-of-half is a giant thrift store right by the Battlefield Mall. This store has some great finds for half of half the price! Find Vineyard Vines jackets for $12 or Victoria Secret leggings for $8! If you look hard enough you will find some great clothes for super cheap and won’t even have to spend your time or money at the mall! It will make your life easier at Missouri State University, especially around Halloween time if you’re in need of a costume.

8. Use the Missouri State app to locate your classes.

The Missouri State app is available in your app store. Don’t be THAT person walking around clueless on your first day. Map out your classes the day before they take part!

9. Save money on gas by taking advantage of the BearLine.

The BearLine takes you just about anywhere from dining halls to downtown. The BearLine runs until 2a.m. on some nights! Wanting to go to Vintage or Boogie for Thirsty Thursday but don’t have a way of getting there or back? Take the BearLine! It’s a safe (and sober) way of getting where you want!

10. Budget your time well.

You need time for friends, family but you need to realize that you’re at college for a reason. Make time to study. And if you’re not good at that. Force yourself to go to the library. It’s a great place to motivate you to do your work.

11. Make good use out of the trial schedule builder on the ‘academic’ profile.

This tab is on the My Missouri State website. It’s useful to figure out your classes before registration is up. Registration opens up at 7a.m. and you definitely want to be one of the first to snag your classes before they’re filled up and you have to revert to your second options. 13. Use the Missouri State App to see what’s for dinner at the dining halls!

Don’t feel like walking all the way to Garst just to be disappointed? The grill, the salad bar, the kitchen, etc. all have their own menus available on the app!

Students get in for free to pretty much all of the athletic home games! You can meet new people here and you’re paying for it so might as well take advantage!

15. Take advantage of sales at the bookstore!

For cute and fashionable clothes, the bookstore is a great place to look. Even better is when you find the good deals here! Touchdown Tuesday is a great example of a perfect time for you to take advantage of sales here. Receive 20% off of an item at the bookstore after the football team score. Sick of dining hall food and wanting a nice, homemade meal? Keep it a secret but above the PSU there’s a Student Union Club that serves you homemade food! Weird right? But for just around $8 of your Boomer Meals you can get easy access to this club. Shhh, don’t say I told you.

17. Check out Rate My Professor.

Use this like it’s your right foot. Rate My Professor is an easy way of getting to know which professors you should consider and the one’s you shouldn’t even look at.

18. Invest in a Koala Pouch for your BearPass.

On campus you will continuously be asked to provide your BearPass. You need it for the dining halls, residence halls after 10 p.m., to enter campus events for free, etc. Might as well keep it in a place that’s easily accessible and what’s more easily accessible than your phone that you always have on you!

19. Follow the PSU on Twitter for updates on free things weekly!

The Plaster Student Union Twitter tweets out at random times for free things. It can be anywhere from free donuts one morning to free t-shirts before a game!

20. Finally, have fun. It’s college! This is your chance to find yourself and prosper!
