10 First Apartment Essentials You Can Get Off Amazon

So, you’ve just moved into your first apartment! It’s exciting, but it can also be stressful to make sure you have everything that you might need. You don’t want to over shop for the sake of your wallet. But you also don’t want to leave something off the list that would be really useful the second you need it or that would make your life easier. When it comes to shopping for your first apartment, it really is a balancing act. Whether you’ve been painstakingly going over apartment checklists for weeks or you’ve just decided to pretty much wing it, this list of 10 first apartment essentials will be helpful to you.

1. Kitchen Set:

Every first apartment needs a kitchen set. You’ll need to be able to make all of those delicious Pinterest recipes somehow, right? This small, rather inexpensive set is perfect for when you first move out on your own. It also comes in many cute colors and variations, making it an Amazon goldmine. I’m getting excited to enhance my cooking skills just by looking at this cooking set.

2. Tool Kit:

I am nowhere near the handiest person in the world. I’m not completely helpless, but I wouldn’t say I’m great. That being said when you live in an apartment, by yourself or with roommates, a tool kit is always great to have. You never know what little thing will break around your apartment and if you can learn to fix things yourself you won’t have to pay for someone else to. I never thought of having a tool kit as essential until my roommate’s tool kit saved me numerous times. Now, when I get my own place, I will definitely be purchasing one.

3. Blender:

For those busy mornings where you can’t really sit down and eat a hearty breakfast, it’ll always come in handy to be able to blend up an equally nutritious one. I can’t think of how many times my blender has saved me some serious time when I was rushing to get out the door. It’s also versatile since you can make soups, ice cream, and frozen yogurt as well. You’ll definitely be able to get your money’s worth out of this kitchen essential.

4.  Silverware Tray:

Right now in my apartment, the silverware spreads through numerous drawers and is just thrown in each one. That space sucking problem could be fixed if I get a silverware tray. My roommates and I have been saying we need to get some for the last six months, and we have yet to do so. This list has made me want to go put a silverware tray into my Amazon cart right now.

Everyone needs a little ambiance in their apartment. Plus amazing smells constantly wafting through your living space doesn’t hurt either. These are just a couple of the reasons why candles are a gift to mankind. Also, if you really want to amplify the great feelings, and who doesn’t, you can also get candles that promote certain feelings like, relaxation, happiness, and even pain relief.

6.  Kitchen Utensil Set:

It’s always a good idea to have a wide array of cooking and serving utensils for your kitchen. It’s an even better idea if they all match and look cute. You might not think you need all of these serving supplies, but when all of your friends come over for your apartment-warming or you have your whole family over for dinner, you’ll be glad you were prepared.

I know for many this may not seem like an “essential” but right now the fridge in our apartment is a little disorganized and I can really see how these bins would come in handy. 8. Towels:

Every apartment needs towels. for the obvious reason of showering but they also come in hand for cleaning up large spills, drying dishes, other beauty-related activities, and many other things that fall in between. This set off amazon would be great since they’re inexpensive and you’ll get a bunch of different sizes without having to pick through the shelves of Target or Walmart. Plus they’ll all match which will look great in your apartment. Treat yourself to a set of matching towels, you’re a grown-up with their first apartment.

9. Stackable Mug Set:

Mugs are simply amazing. I have many of them, way more than will ever be necessary but they just make my day. They are also the most versatile type of dish in my opinion since they can hold drinks, soup, and even full meals like mac and cheese, eggs, and brownies. They work in the microwave some can even go into the oven. Do you see why I think they are one of the most necessary kitchen essentials? It’s because they are.

10. Throw Blanket:

Everyone needs a great throw blanket. Or a couple of throw blankets. At least one for the bed and one for the couch. The best throw blankets are soft and feel like a warm hug when you wrap them around your shoulders on a chilly night. Also, they look super cute draped over living room chairs and couches. Get one that matches all of your throw pillows and whatever room you leave it in will be that much more cozy and stylish.
