Fashion Designers Who Are Black History in The Making

As everybody knows, February is Black History Month. Among the various ways in which we could celebrate it, we finally opted for our own way, namely that of fashion. We decided to feature four fashion designers who are currently and constantly making Black History thanks to their achievements and projects. Talented, passionate and determined, they are all going to be your next role model – and ours, too!

Rihanna

Rihanna’s fashion skills were visible from the very beginning, and it didn’t take long until she joined the fashion industry. In December 2014 she officially became the creative director of the fashion sportswear Puma, overseeing the women’s line. In 2016, her widely-famous clothing line Fenty came out, and its first debut was at New York Fashion Week. Ever since the first appearance, Rihanna’s collections and fashion taste have only been acclaimed and praised. Hail the Queen!

Virgil Abloh

Louis Vuitton’s artistic director Virgil Abloh is one of the most influential fashion icons nowadays, and in this, he is definitely making History as well as Black History. Besides Louis Vuitton, he also is the chief executive officer of the Milan-based streetwear brand Off-White, which he founded in 2013. To us, he is a daily inspiration.

Carly Cushnie

Carly Cushnie’s creations are marvelous. She is the CEO and Creative Director of Cushnie, a ready-to-wear luxury brand for women that revolves around the concepts of fluidity, minimalism, and femininity. Worn by the most famous top models in the world, Cushnie is a brand to admire, and it’s all thanks to Carly.

Oliver Rousteing

Oliver Rousteing was, after Yves Saint Laurent, the youngest fashion designer to become the creative director of a luxury brand. In 2014 he took up the role, becoming the creative mind behind Balmain. He might be young, but his mind is that of a fashion-sage.
