Summer is almost here and that means it’s time to start planning your vacation. Living in Denver offers a variety of fun events to do this summer. From concerts to festivals and everything in between here are a variety of fun things to look forward to in Denver.
Denver Pop Culture Con
The event formally known as Denver Comic Con is quickly becoming one of the largest festivals held in Denver. In 2018 the numbers of attendees grew to over 100,000. Along with the growing number of people going Denver Pop Culture Con is also beginning to pull in higher-profile guests. For instance this year the entire cast of Critical Role will be in attendance. Tickets are on sale for day passes or for the whole weekend of May 31 – June 2.
Chalk Art Festival
If you’re looking to save some money this summer look no further than the Denver Chalk Art Festival. Taking place on Larimer Square this free event has something for everyone. There is a Kids Corner which is designated for anyone who has children who would love to be part of the festival. If you’re an artist or just a budding chalk enthusiast there is also a photo contest you can enter by uploading your photos with the hashtag#DenverChalkArtFestival. This free two day event is June 1 – 3.
Denver PrideFest June 16 – 17
Denver PrideFest is quickly growing into one of the largest Pride Festivals in the United States. There are several things you can do during this weekend, from shows, vendors, food, a 5k run and a parade on the last day. Even if you are just an ally going to PrideFest is a great opportunity to support local LGBTQ+ organizations that support the community, especially the youth.
A Rockies Game
A Rockies game is just a given. What’s nice about going to a Rockies game is even if you aren’t the biggest fan of sporting events you won’t break the bank going to one of their games and it’s a fun opportunity to experience a Denver tradition. Afterwards be sure to hit up one of the many rooftop bars that are within walking distance. Remember, beer and baseball go hand in hand.
Underground Music Showcase
The music scene in Denver has been quickly growing and the Underground Music Festival is designed to show off all of those burgeoning artists. In 2018 over 300 artists played this weekend festival and with this year being the 19th year this festival shows no signs of slowing down. Various restaurants and breweries around Colorado also come out for the UMS which means you’ll get to experience great music with a nice pint of your favorite microbrew. This years festival is July 26 – 28.
If you are looking for something that would be fun for the whole family consider going to the Denver Zoo. With over 4,000 animals and 650 species this is not only a fun experience it is also educational. The zoo is open all year but the summer is the best time to be able to walk around and experience all of the animals. Nestled in the heart of City Park it’s an easy find as well and won’t require you driving out of Denver at all.
A Taste Of Colorado
Last but certainly not least is a festival to truly send off summer on a delectable note. A Taste Of Colorado is huge with over 500,000 in attendance. This 36-year tradition keeps getting bigger with each passing year, with this year featuring 50 food vendors, 175 marketplace vendors and live music.
