10 Epic Movie Goofs That Will Make You Laugh

Movie goofs are out there. There are many, many mistakes made in some of the most epic movies. Here are some impressive mistakes made in some box office hit films!

The Second Filmcrew in Jaws

In Jaws, Ben Gardner heads out to go shark hunting. In an effort to show the surge of hunters looking for the Kintner bounty, Gardner and his friends hightail it out to the ocean. This scene is shot at a wide-angle, showing all of the boats headed out. However, this is where the error stands. If you look closely, one of the other boats headed out is the second film crew grabbing a second angle of the scene.

The Future Telling Newspaper In The Incredibles

Personally, this is one of my favorite Disney/Pixar movies.

It is said that the events of this movie occurred in an alternate version of the 1960s, with the golden age of heroes having ended long before. Mr. Incredible very begrudgingly gives up the job, which is evident by all of the newspaper clippings in his office which highlight his past battles. The one glaring mistake is the newspaper with a date of September 16, 2002. Give or take 40 years ahead of where the movie timeline is supposed to be.

The Cowboy In Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

The Pirates of the Caribbean was a smashing hit at the box office. With several followups, which, unfortunately, got worse as they went, it seems impossible there would be a mistake made.

However, a glaring one was incredibly evident. There’s a cowboy in the middle of one of the scenes! Now, the crack has been made that Sparrow is so flamboyant that perhaps he hired an actual cowboy on one of his adventures, but that’s such a far cry from likely.

More likely, it’s just a crew member that got in the way and nobody noticed. Though, how nobody noticed his big, white, hat, I’m not sure.

The Pre-Recorded “Live” Call In Jurassic Park

One of the best movies ever. And one that spawned a franchise still running almost 30 years later.

In this particular scene, Nedry is having a ‘live’ chat with his contact at the dock. Now, it’s the 90s, so the video ‘feed’ would’ve been terrible even if it had actually been live. But if you look past the video quality you see the mistake. There is a progress bar on the bottom of the Quicktime screen. This would only occur if the video was pre-recorded.

The video, clearly, wasn’t ‘live.’

The Jacket Wearing Camera In The Matrix

A BRILLIANT movie and it hurts to include it in this list of movie goofs…but here we are.

In one scene, it was needed to film a close up of Neo opening a reflective doorknob. Now, doing this without showing the entire crew proved to be difficult, so they needed to come up with a plan.

The film that came up with the brilliant bullet scene decided to put a coat and tie on the camera. That was their entire solution.

If you don’t slow down and scrutinize the scene, they almost got away with it. But once it’s slowed down and really looked at, they failed miserably.

Toy Story

The opening scene of Toy Story starts with the army men scouting Andy’s birthday party. They report back to Woody and the other toys.

Here’s the goof up. The baby monitor that they use is one way. The army men have the handheld half. Because of this, there’s no way they could have used it to report to the toys. It only contains a speaker and no microphone. Woody and the rest of the toys could talk to them, but not vice versa.

It was probably a mom that figured this one out.

Non-Existent Prince Adam in Beauty and the Beast

This one took me for quite a spin. As far as movie goofs go, this one isn’t quite so glaringly obvious. You have to put a few pieces together to come to see this one.

The Prince was turned into a Beast around the age of 10/11 because he turned a witch away when she needed shelter. He is given until he turns 21 to find someone to love him for who he is on the inside.

Here’s the mistake.

There is a scene where Belle is in the West Wing and finds a portrait of Prince Adam as a grown man. Now, seeing as the Prince was only 10/11 when he was cursed, there’s no way a portrait of him as a grown man can exist.

Jurassic Park

If you look just to the left of the raptor in the doorway, you’ll see what looks like his tail. Now, if you look close enough, you’ll realize that it’s an arm! A human arm!

The need was there to balance the massive puppet by adjusting its tail to keep it from falling over.

Even with this mistake, it’s still, easily, one of the greatest movies ever.

The Little White Car in Braveheart

Such a silly mistake in an epic film.

Braveheart is a period film set in the late 13th century. While it is a great movie, this mistake ruins it a bit.

The warring horde is seen rushing away from what appears to be a little white car that is parked in the background of the scene. It breaks the character of the movie and makes it seem more like a LARP session than a historical epic film.

Not sure why this goof bothers me so, but it sure annoys me.

The Future In Downton Abbey

I don’t know much about this show, so I had to look up some information. It’s a period piece set in the early 1900s.

It portrays the lives of an aristocratic family and their domestic servants in the post-Edwardian era. It also portrays the effect of historical events on the British social hierarch.

Here’s the goof up. When promotional photos were released for the drama, producers completely missed the plastic water bottle on the mantle behind some of the main characters. Plastic water bottles weren’t introduced for roughly 20 years after Downton Abbey was supposed to have taken place.

The studio chose to delete the photos.
