DIY Flavored Coffee Syrup

I’m not a big fan of coffee. It has never been my cup of tea, so to speak, but when you add in a flavored coffee syrup, it makes it a little more bearable. For me at least. And especially during school or summer internships, waking up early every takes its toll, and you need that extra pick me up from a cup of coffee. If you’re a coffee lover, then these syrups are a perfect way to branch out or add some more flavor. And these can be a great gift for your friends who love coffee. Here are a few different recipes from A Beautiful Mess to easily make your own, just make sure to have dispensers handy to put them in.

Vanilla: In a small pot, heat up 2 cups of water and 2 cups of sugar over medium/low heat. Keep stirring until the sugar dissolves. Then, stir in 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract (the clear kind) and then just pour it into your dispenser.

Raspberry: You start off with the same water and sugar mixture. Slightly mash up 1/2 cup of fresh raspberries, and pour it into the mixture. Let it sit for 3-5 minutes. Before you pour it out into the dispenser, use a fine-mesh strainer to catch any seeds or large raspberry chunks.

Caramel: Again, you start with dissolving the sugar into the water. Now you stir in 1/2 cup of caramel (store-bought or you can make your own), until it is fully mixed in. Now pour it into your dispenser.

Honey: This is basically just a recipe to make the honey a little thinner, so it is easier to pour out. Simmer together one part honey and one part water until the honey has completely dissolved, which should take about 20 minutes.

Lavender: This recipe uses brown sugar instead of normal sugar. Heat up one cup of brown sugar in one cup of water, (or two cups each if you want more), with 1 tablespoon of lavender buds. Stir and simmer until the brown sugar dissolves, again about 20 minutes. Make sure to strain out the lavender buds before putting it in the dispenser!
