Having trouble decorating your dorm room? Here are a few amazingly decorated dorm rooms to help inspire you to create your very own perfect dorm!

Anyone who has ever decorated their room knows that there is so much that goes into it: color scheme, furniture, posters, and comforters. At some point, we have all spent hours on Pinterest, jealously scrolling through pictures of dorm rooms that are much better than ours. Here are some amazingly decorated dorm rooms that are as close to perfection as possible.

1. Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania

Part of what makes this room so great is the record player in the corner. It adds personality, while fits in perfectly with the overall rustic and vintage theme of the room. The fairy lights on the window are another easy way to brighten up any dorm room.

This dorm room gives me all the desert feels. I’m not sure if it is the aztec-like pattern on the bed spread or the frilly, white overhang above the bed, but both of those things pull this room together.

Nothing screams adorable like elephants. The coordination between the elephant on the wall and the patterned elephants next to it make me wish I had thought of it first. This is a great way to incorporate your favorite animal, whether it is elephants or penguins.

Band posters are another way to make your room your own (I’m for sure bringing a couple Taylor Swift posters). Decorate your room with as many posters as you like but make sure that it does not look too cluttered. The colors in this room absolutely blow my mind. The blues from the tree tapestry and the dusty rose color of the bed spread work perfectly together.

Bringing in prints from some of your favorite artists is another way to spice up your room. I love that the way that this dorm has a board next to the bed with a mirror and a fun shaped cork board. It allows you to customize your room even more if you run out of space on your walls.

Sometimes simplicity can be the most stunning thing about a room. Even though there aren’t that many colors, this dorm provides a sense of elegance and poise that impressed me.

Word decals and signs always bring a certain unique style to the dorm room. The different motivational posters and maps on the wall match the simplicity of the bed spread colors to create a peaceful look throughout the room.

A tapestry hanging behind the bed has become a very common decoration with dorm rooms. This tapestry matches with the other decor in the room, making it look like it belongs there. The pillows add a pop of color that compliments the black and white color scheme of the room.

Picture hearts are one of my absolute favorite room decorations. This dorm room has much more space than others that I have seen, so you shouldn’t get too frustrated if you can’t pull off a look like this one. The pictures on the wall are a great way to show what different adventures you like to go on and some of your favorite memories.

Adding smaller plants to your room can help bring a more lively and natural feel into your room, especially if you are near trees and have a giant tree picture on your wall. The baby pink sheets in this room compliment the natural green of the leaves nicely.

The sporadic pictures on the wall may look messy in certain scenarios, but in this room they work perfectly. Since they are so tiny, they do not drown out the rest of the room and make it feel like they are swallowing you. If you have a lot of pictures, making them smaller may be the way to go.

Adding a shelf next to your bed if possible is the perfect way to create more storage space for your room. It also creates a separation between your desk and bed and upper wall area which makes the overall appearance of your room very appealing and organized.

This room screams elegance. From the headboard to the lamp, there is nothing not elegant in this room. The thing that I am most impressed with is the carpeting because it turns the dirty floor of a dorm room into a much more comfortable area.

I love the way that the lights are hanging down from the bed and underneath it. What is unique about this room is that the bed is lofted, but instead of the desk going underneath it, there is a comfortable sitting area instead.

Similar to the room above this one, instead of the desk going underneath a lofted bed, there is a couch instead. The textured comforter is also very different. It makes it feel more like a bed at home than at college.

This room blows my mind because of the brick wall in the room. It has made me start to think that every room should have a brick wall in it. This dorm is an incredible example of how to decorate a brick wall and make it look completely natural in your room.

Another example of why simplicity is sometimes better than bright colors. Pale colors, black, white, and gray are not only easy to find, but they are also colors that all work well together. The texture on the pillows really ties this room together.

If you have a roommate, you might want to try and coordinate with them. While this may be hard due to long distance, it can be done. When it is done correctly you get something that looks like this room. Even if you don’t want everything to match, you can just pick out matching decorations like chairs or storage bins to make the room look a little more organized and well put together.

If you have a favorite movie or a favorite quote from a movie, don’t be afraid to show it off. Sometimes that ties together an entire room like this one does. I mean who doesn’t love Ferris Bueller’s Day Off?

Including multiple wall decorations with a similar element to them works really well, especially in this room. I really love the one that says sparkle, and the fairy lights surrounding the three pictures really ties it all together.

The white shines brilliantly off of the wooden drawers and desk. With very little on the walls, it draws the focus towards the desk and the bed, which gives it a very clean look.
