10 College Classes You Need To Try While You’re Still A Student

College is a unique opportunity to test out and try various classes that may not be available at other times. There are always hundreds to choose from and it can definitely be confusing with requirements so here are 10 college classes you need to try while you’re still a student:

1. Psychology:

Not many high schools give you the option to try out psychology so college is really the only time you’ll have to try it. Science classes can be confusing, and while psychology may seem confusing, it is by far one of the more interesting classes available.

2. Accounting:

While high school offers plenty of math classes, you’ll tend to find that they may not seem very helpful for the real world. In college you can finally take math-based classes that feel important and meaningful. Accounting is a great way to learn about how companies manage their finances and assets and will give you a better idea of how money flows.

3. Microeconomics:

The stock market has always been interesting and can be beneficial in turning your money into more money with no work at all. Microeconomics is an amazing class to take to help your understanding about financial markets and is something you should take at some point in college even if you aren’t required to do so.

4. Creative Writing:

High school English is very centered around reading and comprehension, and while that same concept continues in college classes, there are also classes that focus on other aspects of english. Creative writing is a great opportunity to write about topics that aren’t forced upon you and to let loose your inner creativity.

5. Philosophy:

If you’ve ever been curious about where certain ideas and morals of society stem from, taking Philosophy is something meant for you. Even with no interest in history, Philosophy is something that should be taken due to the simple fact that it will fill you with wisdom.

6. Financial Management:

Ever wonder if there was a class that would teach you how to manage your money correctly? Even if you aren’t planning on pursuing business, financial management is a great class to take at some point in college just to get a sense of how to better manage your money and prepare yourself for the outside world.

7. Public Speaking:

No matter what vocation you intend to pursue or take after, the skill of public speaking is something that is essential in almost every working environment. Whether you are already a seasoned public speaker or are terrified to do so, Public Speaking is an elective you should plan to take at some point during college. It will help you in various ways and will help you build the confidence to get up in front of a crowd confidently.

In a society that is progressively moving more and more towards being entirely reliant on technology and computers, computer science is one of the most important skills to have in the working world. Code is involved in practically everything and is a staple to every companies platform and is ideal in their success.

9. Ballroom Dancing:

Even if your college doesn’t require a physical education credit, ballroom dancing is something you should take purely due to the unique experience you’ll have. Ballroom dancing is a great conversation starter and is a great way to meet others in the same awkward boat as you, learning the tango, waltz, and any other dances.

10. Sociology:

If you ever get the chance, take sociology while you can. It’s a great way to keep updated with world problems and conflicts, while also staying contained in a formal and relaxed debate that won’t get too heated. Sociology will challenge your views and will ultimately allow you to solidify where you stand on certain topics.
