What’s better than visiting cute dogs and sitting in a cat room? Nothing. Yes, you can hang out in a cat room. At Tri-County Animal Rescue you can go in a room full of cats that are wandering around and play with them for as long as you want. 2. Paint Pottery!
Located right next to campus, Imagine That Pottery has tons of things to choose from to paint. If you bring your student ID you can get 15% off every Friday night.
3. Have your own Chopped competition.
Not in the mood to go out? Have your own Chopped competition. Make food out of the ingredients you already have and see who can make the best meal.
4. Sing a duet at open mic night.
Coffee District at Atlantic Ave is one of many places that have an open mic night. If singing isn’t your thing you can chill and enjoy some coffee and food. And who knows, if you two go up and sing together it could be the start of something new.
5. Play a few game at Retro Arcade.
Stay away from the basic bowling date by going to the Silverball Museum in Delray Beach.
6. Pick fresh produce at Bedner’s Farm Fresh Market.
Not only is Bedner’s a cute farmers market with great food, but almost every weekend they have food trucks and events. Depending on the season you can pick pumpkins, sunflowers, strawberries, tomatoes, peppers, and more. And once you’re done picking you can go to the park right behind Bedner’s and have a picnic or just enjoy the view of the everglades. 7. Morikami Museum and Japanese Garden

8. Blanket fort and movie.
Too lazy to go out? Make your own blanket fort, get some popcorn, cuddle up, and watch a movie together.
9. Free surf lessons.

10. Take the love test.

If you can’t decide on a place to eat check out Atlantic Avenue and while you’re at it stop by Kilwin’s for some of the best ice cream in town. This has to be the most delicious of all the cheap and fun date ideas near Florida Atlantic University. On December 1st from 5pm-9pm the Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place and the Christmas Parade will be held on December 10th. 12. Green Cay Nature Center & Wetlands
Check out Green Cay and its amazing views. Bring food for a picnic to eat at one of the benches by the water and look at all the alligators and turtles that are nearby. And yes, this picture is from the actual nature center, it’s that pretty.
13. Boca Museum of Art
If you’re feeling a little hipster stop by the Boca Museum of Art in Mizner. Bring your student ID for a discount and grab a bite to eat from one of the restaurants nearby. And if you’re a fan of grilled cheese, go to New York Grilled Cheese which is less than a minute away for the best grilled cheese you’ll ever have. Did I mention they have mac & cheese grilled cheese?
14. Food Truck Invasion at South County Park.
Every first and third Wednesday of the month check out the South County Park Amphitheater for their food truck event. Not only do they have several trucks to choose from, but they also play a movie at the amphitheater so bring your chairs and blankets!
15. Biking on the Beach!
If you’re up for the drive, head out to Hollywood Beach and rent a bike or a kayak, grab ice cream, and go tanning. This is probably one of the nicest beaches and it’s definitely worth the drive. You can easily spend the entire day without ever getting bored.
