Fall is just around the corner. That means plenty of new activities to do with family, friends and romantic interests. If you’re already planning your fall weekends and autumn evenings this list is for you. Below are a few activities for fall you’ll definitely want on your calendar.
If you’re someone who lives in a place that actually experiences the seasonal effects of fall you should consider this activity for fall. Driving through the mountains, woods, countryside or even neighborhood looking at the changing leaves can be a wonderfully simple pastime. Fall can be seen as a bland time of year but actually it is just as vibrant as spring. The various shades of colors plants change to during this season are stunning. In Colorado fall is a perfect time to drive up to the mountains, look at the sea of orange that the forest has become and enjoy the view. Bonus points if you pack a picnic and make a day out of it.
While beer is nice all year long the beverage can’t help but taste slightly better during fall. The beers that breweries produce during this season tend to be spicier, darker and heavier. Going to a local brewery is the perfect activity for fall because it doesn’t require a lot of planning. This is something you can enjoy for a quick after-work drink or you can play an afternoon playing cornhole while holding your amber ale. Plus Oktoberfest happens this time of year, putting even more emphasis on how beer, breweries and fall go hand in hand.
Another fitting drink for fall is apple cider. If you’re craving this seasonal drink consider making your own from fruit you picked yourself during some apple picking. Typically apple picking season is at the beginning of fall, in September and October. While you might not be looking to bring home crates of this fruit it can still be a fun and unique activity for fall. Plus it would be a great first date. Check around your state for local farms that offer the opportunity to go apple picking.
Fall also means one of the best if not the best holidays of the year, Halloween. Regardless of age, there are few things more fitting for a fall evening than getting scared witless at a haunted house. Typically they run all throughout October and there are haunted houses for everyone’s level of scare. There are ones that are designed to be more kid-friendly, and others that are meant to make a grown man cry. This is an activity for fall you’ll want to take part in.
If haunted houses just don’t do it for you or you’re looking for something more rooted in reality consider this activity for fall. As it gets closer to Halloween many cities have their own ghost tours. You’ll be able to listen to historians or history buffs detail the gruesome, gory and bone-chilling tales of your town. If you’re lucky enough to live somewhere that’s always spooky, like Savannah, Georgia or New Orleans, Louisiana you’ll be able to go on one all season. This fall activity won’t just scare you it’s also a great way to learn more about the history of where you live.
This is an activity for fall that’s definitely a little more family-friendly. Since fall is a time when farmers typically begin to overhaul their crops a lot of local farms will offer corn mazes. There are small ones perfect for little ones and others that are a bit more challenging.
Fall also means football is back. Whether you’re still in college or working going to a live sporting event can be absolutely fun. While a lot of NFL tickets can be incredibly pricey it can be worth the cost. Or you can always go back to your alma mater during homecoming week and support your team. If you’re still not sold on the idea of going all out there’s always throwing a Sunday football party at your apartment. A perfect excuse to play host.
Last but certainly not least is visiting a pumpkin patch. Even if you’re not looking to carve your pumpkins they’re still perfect fall decor. This is something anyone of any age can experience. It’s so satisfying finding the perfect pumpkin to take back with you. Plus pumpkin patches are the best backdrop for fall photoshoots.
