City Life

Why Everyone Should Attend The Summer Shop Crawl This Year

The first thing you should know about Iowa City is that it’s a college town. An artsy, loves anything unique college town. So residents jump at the opportunities to support local businesses. And really, that’s what this is. To kick off the start of the summer (it’s already hot and muggy a few days into May), participants of the Summer Shop Crawl (ticket purchase is necessary) will receive a customized glass, a community-made bracelet, drinks (non-alcoholic for those underage), and entry into a gift card basket raffle. With 20 businesses participating, drinks in every store, and a ticket for only $15, why wouldn’t you go?

Businesses participating

Some of the businesses participating are Dulcinea, a chic clothing store; Om, Gifts for the Body and Soul, where you’ll find unique presents for others (okay, most likely for you); and Tailgate Iowa City, your one-stop shop for everything Hawkeye related – and let’s be honest, if you live in Iowa City, it’s practically a crime not to love your local mascot.

Iowa City thrives on its local businesses, and especially the events that happen during the summer. If you’re getting excited about the Summer of the Arts (everyone around here is!), kick off with the Summer Shop Crawl. Because really, you can’t beat shopping and drinking combined!

Pick up your bracelet and glass outside of Textiles on May 18th.
