10 Artists To Add To Your Playlist

It can be hard to find new artists that are worthwhile to add to your playlist. If you’re looking for some good music to add to your library, then you’ve come to the right place. Here’s 10 artists that if you haven’t listened to yet, you definitely should.

1. Jesse

The lead singer of the band “The Neighbourhood”, Jesse has released some solo work that is definitely worth your time to listen to. The most recent album he put out is titled “Garageb&” and it has his signature alternative vibe to it, with a touch of pop. If you’re looking for new artists and haven’t listened to him before, you should definitely check him out; you won’t be disappointed.

2. Kaytranada

Hailing from Haiti but having lived in Montreal for the majority of his life, Kaytranada is another phenomenal artist. He is a DJ and record-producer who got started at a very young age and has since gone on to collab with artists like Vic Mensa, Anderson .Paak, Ty Dolla $ign, and many others. Definitely worth putting on your list of “artists to listen to”!

3. Joji

Joji (born George Miller) actually started off as a Youtube personality. His music is typically classified under lo-fi hip-hop, and is perfect to listen to in order to decompress after a long day. The relaxing melodies and deep lyrics make for him definitely being one of my favourite artists right now, and he might just be one of yours too after this.

4. Yung Lean

Hailing from Sweden, Yung Lean is a rapper, singer and songwriter, among other things. He has a unique take on rap that makes him stand out from the crowd. He was also included on XXL Magazine’s 2014 list of “15 European Rappers You Should Know”. Well, now you know him, and hopefully you’ll check him out.

5. Mt. Joy

Mt. Joy is an indie rock band who are one of my favourites to listen to while doing just about anything lately. They released their debut single in 2016, with a debut album following a few years later in march of 2018. The powerful vocals and relaxing melodies of their music is reason enough for you to listen to these artists.

6. 070 Shake

Gaining recognition after featuring on some of Kanye West’s latest tracks, 070 Shake has certainly made a name of her own recently. A talented singer and rapper, she is one of those rare artists who, in my opinion, does not have a song to dislike.

7. Anna of the North

Anna of the North, born Anna Lotterud, is a Norwegian artist. She puts a unique spin on pop, giving it an electro-pop feel that is unlike any other artist I can think of. Her single “Lovers” actually even appeared in the Netflix film “To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before”, so maybe you’ve heard her music and loved it without even knowing it. Now you know, and can give her the streams she deserves.

8. Cage the Elephant

Maybe you’ve heard of them before, maybe you haven’t. They’ve certainly been around the music scene for a while, and have put out quite a few hits that never get old. Their music is a mix between indie-rock and alternative rock, and the band has toured with many of the biggest names in the genre.

9. Blood Orange

Blood Orange, formerly known as Lightspeed Champion, is an English artist. His music falls into the R&B category, but even if that’s not your style, there’s definitely something of his that you will find yourself listening to. He is also a song-writer with many a hit under his belt, and his own music is a reflection of the amount of talent he has.

10. Lil Peep

The late artist deserves every bit of recognition that he has been getting since his tragic and untimely passing. He began as a SoundCloud artist, but shortly thereafter won his way into the hearts of many with his gut-wrenching lyrics. His music, a mix of punk/rap is of an extremely unique style, and he should be at the top of your list of artists to put on your playlist.
