A Day In The Life Of An SJU Student

Here at St. John’s University, I wear many different hats. A few of them being: a Resident Assistant, Career Peer, mentor and member of the Fashion Club e-board. Being heavily involved on campus is great, but it can also be very exhausting when trying to manage so many responsibilities, make great grades, get a decent amount of sleep and also have somewhat of a life all at the same time (welcome to college). It can definitely be a challenge but it surely is worth it once all the hard work pays off. Keep reading to find out what a day in the life of an SJU student is really like!

9:15 AM: I like to call this part of my day “The Pre Wake- Up” because it’s literally the moment I hear my alarm go off and hit the snooze button for an extra 15-20 minutes.

10:10 AM: Finally I’m actually up by now and ready for my 10:40 class.

By now, I’m probably blasting Fetty Wap through my speakers so I can stay awake before I head out for breakfast.

10:10 – 10:30 AM: My friends and I make it to Monty’s and jump in the omelette line just before it gets packed.

Angela (Monty’s chef and the world’s best omelet maker) is making the omelettes today and YAY there is extra bacon, so I know my breakfast is going to be extra great!

10:40 AM – 12:05 PM: Intro to Public Relations Writing class, listening to fellow classmates share their mock press releases and pitches to potential clients.

12:15 – 1:40 PM: Ughh another class back to back, it’s a graphic design class though so I get to use my laptop (Online Shopping!!!!).

1:50 – 3:15 pm: Eat lunch with my friends in DAC basement, hang out on the strip for the frat BBQ, then head over to the Fashion Club general body meeting in St. John Hall to discuss our annual winter fashion show.

3:25 – 4:50 PM: Last class of the day, I can do this (#Feeling optimistic)! . . .

Ohhhh no it’s philosophy and I just ate lunch (Gets the sudden feeling of falling asleep).

5:00 – 6:30 PM: Run to the bathroom and throw water on my face to wake up before heading to the Tutoring Center to meet up with my mentees for our weekly study session.

7:30 – 9:00 PM: Head over to the RA lounge to lead a community building program by watching the movie Bridesmaids over bowls of popcorn.

9:00 – 9:45 PM: Meet my friends over at the diner for some chicken strips and fries!

9:45 – 10:00 PM: Stress over all the work I have yet to do, then realize that tomorrow is Wednesday and I don’t have class so I can get everything done then.

10:00 – 11:00 PM: A day in the life of an SJU student ends by scrolling through Instagram, Facebook and Snapchat, then finally going to sleep!
