Simple Add Ons For Your Everyday Look

As we exit colder weather in Boston and embrace Spring being here, there is a little bit more motivation to get ready everyday. It doesn’t mean that the days of leggings and sweaters are over, depending upon where you live, sweater weather can seem like it’s never ending. But, there are subtle add ons that can make your everyday routine more exciting. Whether you feel keeping it natural or being bold, there is always something simple out there you can try with your daily look. Check out these ideas for quick and simple add ons to your look, anytime of the year!

Bandanas

Bandanas are probably one of the most versatile accessories ever. The patterns are endless and they’re usually reasonably priced wherever you find them. Madewell might be known for their jeans, but they’ve made the bandana look very popular. Floral, animal print, stripes, and plaid are just a few designs of bandanas sold at Madewell. Not sure how to wear one? Don’t worry. They have visuals on their website showing how all genders can accessorize with a bandana. Whether you want to wear a t-shirt, sweater, or button up shirt, adding a bandana as a neck scarf can make for a more detailed laid-back look. No matter your hair length, wrapping a bandana like a headband can change up your everyday hairstyle. If you have longer hair and like wearing ponytails, you can use a bandana as a hair tie. Don’t want to wear it on yourself? That’s okay too! If you carry a backpack or purse, you can easily attach a bandana to it by wrapping it around the handles. To me, they are considered a staple. You can be sure to make a statement with whatever you pair a bandana with.

Glasses

Let’s start by saying – glasses never go out of style. They’re an iconic accessory that can easily tell a bit of someone’s personality. Prescription, non-prescription, sunglasses – doesn’t matter, there is a shape and style out there for everyone. It might not be that sunny out, but if you want to wear oversized heart-shaped glasses, go for it. There has been an ongoing trend of wearing glasses even if you don’t need a prescription. Some people solely just like the look of crystal frames, tortoise shell, or a pattern they feel suits them best. Glasses look good on everyone, and they can make someone truly feel like themselves. If you don’t have to wear glasses in your day-to-day life but love how they look and want to try them out, popular stores such as Warby Parker offer the non-prescription selection. Putting on a pair of any kind of glasses can add to whatever look you are going for.

Hats

Hats are everywhere and can be added to pretty much any outfit, during any season. One of my favorite looks is the solid color, sports team baseball cap that can be worn with almost every daytime look. Try a hat with a t-shirt, jeans and sneakers, oversized sweatshirt and leggings, leather jacket, jeans and booties, etc. Who cares if you really know much about the sports team, their baseball hats make for a simple piece to be worn with articles like a long peacoat, tucked in shirt, or high waisted pants and high-top sneakers. If baseball caps aren’t your thing, beanies are an easy find and can be thrown together any outfit during colder weather. A hat trend we’ve been seeing lately is berets. The cool French-girl style has been seen on celebrities such as Rihanna, Cardi B, Jennifer Lopez and Olivia Culpo and can certainly be worn by anyone. Pair a beret with a simple black dress or pair of pants and a statement jacket, making for an edgier look.

Cream Eyeshadow

Whatever your makeup routine may be, cream eyeshadow is a buildable, quick add on to making your eyes pop. Glossier is one retailer that has their top cream eyeshadow, Lidstar, available in 6 colors. Unlike regular soft eyeshadows, creams are easily blendable and can be swiped on your eyelid using your fingertip. They are less harsh on the eyelids, due to the ability to make them stand out as much as you want to – whereas soft eyeshadows can look different from the palette as soon as you apply it. Gold, lavender, and silver are just a few glittery shades that can also be used as a highlighter, making for a dewy shine that will last all day. If you want to stick to the neutrals, cream eyeshadow is also a great option, allowing you to easily adjust how much or how little you want to wear on your eyes! Keep it simple with a slight add on of eyeshadow or dare to be different with a bright cream eye color.

Belts

I really believe that there is a belt that can go with anything. I have always loved the trend of wearing a thin belt around your waist in order to make a simple dress more detailed. Not only are they flattering, but they can add a pop of color or pattern to what you’re already wearing. There are many more belts other than just standard leather. I usually stick to the neutrals, but have found that patterns in accessories help me branch out in adding more variety into my wardrobe. Wearing an oversized button up and jeans can be easily changed into a more stylish look when the shirt is tucked into the jeans and a belt is showing. A trend I have seen a lot lately is a simple t-shirt dress or sweatshirt dress paired with a wide belt around the waist, making for a sassier look that can can be matched with heels or booties for a chic nighttime look or a pair of sneakers or flats during the day. No matter what look you’re going for, there is a belt that can not only keep your clothes fitting well throughout the day, but also make for an add on to everyday apparel!
