10 Things You Thought You’d Need On Your Next Big Trip But Didn’t End Up Using

No matter where you’re going on your next big trip, please don’t overpack. Just keep the packing it simple with necessities and not things you won't use.

Summer vacations are the best, with the warm breeze and the cute outfits, it can never disappoint. No matter where you’re going on your next vacation, please don’t overpack. You’ll end up stressing about whether your bag is overweight or thinking about how you’re going to fit the new items you’ve purchased into an overpacked bag. If you’re panicking about what to bring, worry not, I’ve got you covered. Here are ten things you don’t really need to bring on your big trip.

1. Many Pairs of Denim Shorts

When it comes to bottoms, especially shorts, it’s simple. You only need one pair, that’s it. Think about it, why waste the space in your luggage with two pairs of denim shorts that look identical? There’s no point. If you’re thinking that people will notice if you keep posting pictures of the same pair of shorts, trust me, they won’t. So, do yourself a favor and bring ONE pair.

2. Hair Dryer

Ok, for all you people who care deeply about your hair, this one’s for you. You definitely won’t need to bring your huge hair dryer on your big trip because your hotel will most likely have one. Even if it’s a bad quality hair dryer, it doesn’t matter because you can still use it. Bringing a hair dryer with you will only take up most of the space in your luggage and it’ll make it heavier for you to carry.

3. Your Whole Makeup Collection

I know it’s hard to pick just one item for each category, but, please try to restrain yourself from bringing your entire makeup collection. You only need ONE mascara, ONE foundation, ONE bronzer and okay you get it. What I’m trying to say is that you’re not going to be spending an hour each day painting your face with a bunch of different products. You’ll be in a rush and you won’t want to waste time searching for your second mascara and end up using the one that’s already on the dresser. So, put that second eyeliner where you found it, you don’t need it!

4. An Extra Pair of Heels

Deciding which shoes to bring on vacay is definitely a challenge, I can agree. But what I can’t agree is having two pairs of heels to match with different outfits. One pair is enough and make sure to bring one that is of neutral color so that you can match it with every outfit!  I would recommend black or nude.

5. Shampoo and Conditioner

This might be a necessity for most people but to be frank, you won’t really need it. These days there has been an improvement in the shampoos and conditioners in hotels that you don’t really need to use your personal ones. Even if it doesn’t seem that great, keep in mind that you’re only going to be here for a couple of days, just hang in there.

6. Your Laptop

If you’re traveling for work, then obviously bring your laptop. If not, then don’t. You won’t be needing a huge laptop to binge your shows because you’ll be occupied doing other fun stuffs. If you need to look something up, use your phone, it’s smaller but it won’t be a hassle to carry around.

7. Different Purses

The same applies for purses, you only need ONE. Just like your shoes, make sure to bring one that is either black or nude so that it’ll surely match your outfits. Grab your cutest and smallest bag and you’ll be good to go!

8. Fancy Jewelry

Unless you’re attending a red carpet event, I really doubt you’ll be needing your huge, fancy jewelry. If you want a little something to spice up your outfits, then bring your simple ones, for example, a pair of hoops and a dainty necklace. It’s cute, simple and it won’t draw too much attention!

9. Towels

Bringing towels on a big trip is pointless. Hotels and Airbnb’s would usually offer towels, so you’ll be fine. There’s no need for your extra fluffy and soft towel, you’ll just be taking up unnecessary space when you can be saving it for something useful.

10. Many books

Finally, are books. Books are always nice to have when you’re on a plane or just relaxing on the beach. However, you don’t need to bring your complete collection of the Harry Potter series. You probably won’t even get to finish one book on your big trip. If you absolutely have to read, then just bring one to keep you entertained.
