10 Date Ideas Your Introverted Partner Will Love

As an introvert myself, I know how difficult date nights can be. Spending copious amounts of time in bars or at parties is definitely not my scene so sometimes I find it difficult to come up with date ideas. Additionally, if you are an introvert like me, you would know that getting your recharge is necessary in order to function and enjoy yourself when out and about on a date. But who says, you always have to go out? Take a look at these 10 simple date night ideas meant for those looking to recharge while spending time with the one you love.

1. Take A Nap

Sometimes the best dates are the simplest. We are all overworked, underpaid, and just all around tired. What better way to spend the afternoon than with your loved one wrapped up in their arms under a pile of blankets. Put on some relaxing music, find all the blankets in your house, and snuggle up. Will you sleep for 30 minutes or 2 hours? No one knows. This is such a great way to get in some quality time without exerting any energy!

2. Read A Book Out Loud

And don’t just read. Get animated. Find a book with action or great dialogue that is easily acted out and just go for it! You can take turns getting into the characters’ heads and doing your own special voice impressions. If you think your partner will be a little less inclined to read whole chapters out loud, don’t worry! Go to your local library and check out as many poetry books as you can. This brings the energy down but still allows you and your partner to enjoy reading out loud to each other.

3. Go On A Walk

Walking clears the mind, helps your body release toxins, and also releases endorphins! It doesn’t have to be at a fancy park or to any specific destination and can be done at any time of day. Make you and your significant other a season-appropriate beverage in a to-go cup, grab the portable speaker for some tunes, and just walk and talk…or don’t talk! That’s the beauty of this date idea, quality time without the stress of impressing.

4. Watch A Movie Together

This is an oldie but a goodie as far as date nights go as you can make an at-home theater ten times better than the real one. Load up on the snacks, popcorn, and any other essential movie night goodies and find your favorite flick to watch together. The great thing about this date idea is that it can stretch long into the night if you find a new series to go through together!

5. Craft or Paint Together

Creating things helps our brains grow and is a fabulous solo activity, but it can also be a great date idea! Crafting can be done at home or out at a studio, it’s completely up to you! There are “paint n sips” popping up everywhere and many pottery stores also offer classes. If you prefer an at-home experience, there are tons of fun and simple ideas out there. Be sure to check out your local arts and crafts store for some ideas before your date to find something your partner will love!

6. Bake Cookies

Can you smell them yet? Bustling about a kitchen together is a great way to spend an evening. It can also become a moment of deep connection if you have a favorite recipe or reason for loving the cookies you are making. Whether you prefer molasses, peanut butter, or good ole chocolate chip, baking with your loved one, and being able to enjoy a homemade sweet treat is the best gift ever. So bust out grandma’s recipe or the one you and your best friends made in High School. Your partner is sure to be impressed with your baking skills!

7. Deep Clean

It may sound silly, but doing a deep clean of any area in your house can build a connection with your loved one! Now, I don’t mean say to your partner, “I thought we could clean tonight!” That most likely will not go over well! Prepare! This is a date after all. Get a platter of their favorite snacks, find a deep clean jam on Spotify, line up the cleaning supplies, and don’t forget the before and after photo! Deep cleaning with someone lets them be apart of your past and can open up worlds of conversation!

8. Have a Laundry Party

Folding laundry can be therapeutic but too often, we leave our laundry in stacks in our closets and on our floors because it’s just not fun to do alone. It is, however, fun to do with someone! Tossing socks back and forth and commenting on each other’s outdated wardrobe pieces can lead to learning about the other person in ways a normal date just can’t get at. As with any home date, snacks, favorite tv shows, and tunes are a must!

9. Play A Card Game

Card games often require more focus and less talking. They can be strategic and long, speedy and easy, or somewhere in between.  Additionally, they can be played virtually anywhere, as long as there’s no wind! If you want to take your date out for a nice dinner and want a little extra fun for your introverted partner, try bringing a deck of cards or other card games! My husband and I’s favorite is Skip-Bo at Olive Garden! What game will you bring out on your next date?

10. Play Video Games

Sometimes you just need to veg and sometimes it’s more fun to do that with someone. Find a favorite video game, whether it be an old classic like Mrs. PacMan or something new like Call of Duty. Pull up a chair and just relax with your partner. If they don’t know how to play, teach them! You’re bound to bond over any video game and if you do, all the better for future date nights when you both just need to chill.
