What To Watch, Cook or Do During Coronavirus Quarantine

In times like these, we are looking for things to keep us busy, or at least occupied. Here are some fun, relaxing, and entertaining things you can do during your coronavirus quarantine.

1. Keep on top of your work/homework:

In this time of messed up schedules, I know it may seem tempting to just curl up in bed all day and nap or watch movies during your quarantine. But it is still really important to keep on top of all of the other things you still have to do. Whether it’s paperwork, phone calls, and zoom meetings for your job or studying and papers for school, you’ll thank yourself later when your not scrambling to get everything done at the last minute. You can always watch movies and take a well-deserved nap after all your busy work is done.

2. Do Yoga:

It would be great to keep active during your quarantine but if that exercising could double as relaxing, that would be even more perfect. Yoga is one of the best ways to keep you moving and flexible as well as relaxed and focused. We all could use a little extra relaxation and focus around this time, am I right? It also is one of the best and easiest workout activities to do at home. All you need is a yoga mat and then you can pull up a youtube video that focuses on a yoga workout. There are many different variations of yoga depending on your skill level and what you want to focus on. If you have an area with a good rug, you may not even need a yoga mat; that’s how equipment free yoga can be if you’re doing it at home.

3. Learn to make a new pasta dish:

We all know how to make pasta, but do you know how to make a fancy, restaurant-quality pasta dish with delectable sauce? This is definitely the time to learn. Seeing as a box of pasta can go a long way, last a long time in the pantry, and isn’t really that expensive. Also, everyone loves pasta (and it is one of the most versatile dishes in the whole world) so there will definitely be a variation that everyone in your home will like, even if that’s just you. If you have tons of time (and a lot of us do at this point), make the pasta noodles from scratch too. You definitely won’t regret this.

4. Have a movie marathon:

It’s a Saturday night, but you can’t go out. Well, if you and your friends were a movie-going squad, then you should definitely have a movie marathon. Set up the room to be comfy, pick your favorite movies, and of course, make tons of snacks. If you and your movie crew are all quarantined in different places, then get all of your friends together on a streaming app, group chat, or zoom chat so you can all watch the movie at the same time together. This could also be a perfect thing to do when you need some space if you’ve been quarantined with your family for just a little too long. Put on your favorite movie series and bask in the much needed alone time.

5. Binge watch a sit-com:

What better time than coronavirus quarantine to start binge-watching a new tv series? It appears that there is no better time. We’re going to be here for a while. So it is actually a good thing that there are tons of tv shows on Netflix and Hulu that are just begging to be watched. I feel like we could all use some laughs right now and luckily both of these streaming services have tons of sit-coms available. Some of the best ones are New Girl, Parks and Recreation, The Good Place, The Office, That 70’s Show, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine

6. Journaling:

Journaling is a great technique that can help calm your thoughts at any time, and it might be even more useful right now. You could journal about your day or things that are worrying you or you could set up a journal that can help keep you motivated or on task; like a bullet journal. There are tons of journal writing prompts as well as bullet journal ideas on Instagram and Pinterest. So, you’ll definitely be able to find a journaling technique to help you out with anything you need.

7. Bake cookies or a cake from scratch:

Baking cookies or a cake from scratch is another fantastic thing you could do, or learn how to do, during your coronavirus quarantine. Who wouldn’t feel better and on top of the world after a warm, fresh batch of chocolate chip cookies? Any other kind of cookie would be amazing too, of course. We all know that double chocolate chip, peanut butter, sugar, snickerdoodle, and oatmeal raisin are some all-time favorites. If cookies aren’t your thing, then why not bake a cake? The smell of delicious cake and all of that amazing icing is sure to put you and everyone in your household in the best mood. If I was in charge of your cake it would be a delectable chocolate cake, but you can make whatever flavor is your favorite.

8. Read a new book:

If you’re like me then you’ve got tons of books you’ve never read sitting by your bedside. I can’t help it; I love to read and always seem to acquire books way faster than I can read them. Now, more than ever would be the best time to escape to new worlds and use your imagination through reading. You’ll also give your eyes a break from your tv or computer screen, which we’ve all been on a lot more lately due to working from home. Reading is also just one of the best things; I just can’t describe it. There really is nothing like sitting in your favorite chair by the window and cracking open a new book while it rains softly outside. If you like to read, then you know what I mean.

9. Color or paint:

Art is calming and is best done indoors, making it the perfect quarantine activity. You can paint something intricate on a canvas if you’re an arts and crafts master, or you can relax and paint for fun if you were just looking for something to do. For an even more relaxed, stress-free, and equipment limited art project, go for coloring. Everybody has crayons and coloring pages stashed in their house somewhere, am I right?

10. Make a big breakfast or brunch for everyone in your home:

Hopefully, you’re not quarantining alone; that would be just plain boring. While you and everyone are waking up why not start making a great big breakfast or brunch. You could pick what kind of meal to make depending on when everybody in your family gets up. Be sure the meal at least includes eggs, toast, bacon, and pancakes or french toast. Add some fresh fruit, coffee, and smoothies and you’ll be golden.
