What To Do Around Virginia Tech When You’re Broke AF

Are you broke AF at Virginia Tech and stuck wondering what to do around campus? Don’t worry! There are plenty of cheap and fun things to do. You don’t have to spend any money to have a great time! Keep reading for what to do around Virginia Tech when you’re broke AF!

1. Hike the Cascades!

If you have no money, there is a hiking trail that almost everyone does at some point during his or her time here at VT. While it is not the only hike around here, it is the most popular.

2. Go camping!

There are tons of places you can go camping; the cascades could even be one of them. But there is also New River Junction, Eggleston Springs Campground, Boley Field Campground to name a few!

 

3. Swimming and rafting!

There are lots of creeks and rivers that you can float down. Bring your inner tube and float away!

4. Window shopping in downtown Blacksburg!

Downtown Blacksburg has tons of shops, and while you may be broke now, you may not be in the near/far future. Make you wish list now and buy later.

5. Cliff jump at the quarry.

Cliff jumping! Nearby campus in Blacksburg, there is a quarry where you can jump off rocks into some refreshing water. Bring tons of food and spend your whole day there with all of your friends.

6. Sign up for gym classes.

At McComas, there is an exercise class for just about anything. Yoga, Zumba, Pilates, etc.

7. Go on a run or a bike ride.

This one is a little simple, but Blacksburg is gorgeous. You are surrounded by hokie stone, mountains, and tons of orange and maroon leaves on the trees during the fall. There are trails near Center Street, and in Christiansburg to run along.
