I don’t know about you but one of the worst things about summer is having your hair too long and having it overheat you more than that blazing sun. But one of the benefits of long hair is what you can do with it. Down below is 8 ways to style a ponytail this summer.

1. Just Add A Bow

If your a fan of the everyday ponytail look but just want a little bit of flare. You might like this idea. This simple way to style a ponytail involves just adding a bow, maybe even a scarf or ribbon. However you wanna do it, it will add such a cute bit of detail to your ponytail look.

2. Curly Girl Ponytail Look

I myself keep my hair normally in its naturally curly state, and when I’m having a good curly hair day in the summer I don’t want it all up or braided or what not. But this is the perfect way to have your hair out of your face but still wearing it down. By just taking a big portion of your hair and tieing it up, but not too high and leaving the rest down. When you have really curly hair you’ll notice how it blends well together. If you’re not having a great curly hair day almost every day, then I think you should check out my article, “How to have your curly hair at it’s best“.

3. Slick Back Ponytail Look

If you wanna go for a very professional elegant ponytail style, then the slick back ponytail is what you wanna do. I mean look at how elegant Sansa Stark is looking right now. I can’t help but call her by her characters name it’s a force of habit. I’ve yet to do this look, my only issue is I have to straighten my hair in order to do it. It shouldn’t be too hard if you have wavy hair and running the straightener over it isn’t much of a process. Just makes sure you brush back your hair nice and maybe even some gel for any fly away or hairspray and a toothbrush. You tie it in the back and bring it towards the front.

4.  Night Out Ponytail Look

I think this is not only cute to wear at the club, especially with the right outfit, but also cute heading to an event. The key here is volume. You need to tease your hair, giving it that sexy bedhead appearance. Also with the right type of hair tie, that either gives it that night or day look, along with the outfit.

5. No Hair Tie Ponytail

I’m sure we all love when our hair tie isn’t visible, already making our ponytail seem done up nicely. This is mainly because it appears so much neater. That’s honestly what I love about this ponytail, I feel like it could be worn to a classy event, or even a nice evening out. From what I can see here, she left out two pretty nice chunks of hair, gathered more from the front of her face. One from each side. Then the leftover hair was tied with an elastic, and then she wrapper the other parts of hair around it but left them to dangle down and join the ponytail, and then she bobby-pinned them to keep them in place.

8. 80’s High Ponytail

That’s the best way I could describe this very cute, quick and easy ponytail. That you may recognize from may 80’s movies. It’s a look I’ve been meaning to wear, and will this summer. If you want your off the back of your neck in the heat but aren’t very comfortable with your hair out of your face then this is perfect for you. Just leave out to equally sized chunks from the front of your hair out, and then tie the rest into a high ponytail. I also recommend, teasing your hair, the more volume the better for this look.

I hope you enjoyed this and learned a little something. I didn’t even know all these types of ponytails existed until I wrote this but now I’m definitely gonna try them out this summer, and so should you. Let me know in the comments section below any ponytail styles I might’ve left out.
