10 Ways To Sell Your Clothes And Pocket Extra Cash

If you are like most college students, you buy clothing items to wear once for a party and event and have no intentions of wearing them again. While this keeps your closet current and your wardrobe fresh, it also makes a huge dent in your wallet. If you are looking for ways to sell your clothes that you have no plans to wear ever again, look no further than these places.

1. eBay

eBay is one of the most popular marketplace websites on the internet. It allows users to sell unwanted items and buy things from other users. There is an option to set your own price for your clothing items, or you can hold an auction where the buyers compete for the item by outbidding other users. This is one of the best ways to sell your clothes!

2. Craigslist

Craigslist is another popular website that is used for selling items. However, it is not always the most trustworthy in terms of who is on the other side, so if you plan on selling your clothing and meeting in person, plan to meet in a public place and bring someone else with you for added safety.

3. Consignment shops

Consignment shops are kind of like an upgraded version of a flea market. They have individual booths where people sell their items. However, you do have to rent the space for your items, so if you end up not selling your clothes, you will be out even more money.

4. Yard sale

Yard sales are a great way to sell clothes you do not want anymore. They tend to be more of a spring or summer thing, so use this to your advantage. In the spring, go through all of your clothes and sell the items you do not wear or that you do not need anymore.

5. Facebook

Facebook is one of the best social media sites for selling your clothes due to the vast amount of options. You can post the item on your personal profile and sell it to friends you know. You can also sell it through the Marketplace or through community yard sale groups to sell clothes to those in your community.

6. Poshmark

Poshmark is a community of buyers and sellers of fashion. It is one of the top websites that is specifically geared towards selling fashion items. All you have to do is take a photo of your item(s) and share the photos. The site helps you ship the item with a prepaid shipping label. This is definitely one of the best ways to sell your clothes!

7. Plato’s Closet

Plato’s Closet is a store geared to teenagers and college-age people. They sell gently used brand name items at a lower price. They have a program where you can get paid for items you bring in that fit their needs, and they keep their stock current.

8. Tradesy

This website is geared towards women’s fashion. It is a platform for buying and selling brand name fashion items, and the site guarantees that you will get the best price for your items. They even send you a free shipping kit when you make a sale.

9. Clothes Mentor

Like Plato’s Closet, Clothes Mentor is a physical store where you bring in unwanted clothing items and you are given a quote for how much you can receive. However, it is geared towards women’s fashion and accessories. You can opt to receive cash or apply the money towards your purchase.

10 Instagram

While there is no way to directly sell your items on Instagram, one method that works is posting a photo and having your followers bid for the item. Whoever has the highest bid gets to buy the item, and you can get the money through Paypal or Venmo.
