10 Ways Anna Wintour Changed The Fashion World For The Best

Anna Wintour is what we call the definition of fashion. She eats, sleeps, and breathes fashion to the core and without her, the world wouldn’t be as influenced in a positive way if it wasn’t for her. She is the editor and chief of Vogue Magazine and has been since the 1980s. Here are 10 ways Anna Wintour changed the fashion world for the best.

1. A great team is where to start

Anna realized very fast that having a great team especially in the fashion business is what she needed to execute the tasks that needed to be done. She wanted people who she could trust, people who she enjoyed, and also those whose opinions that she respected.

To be an effective team, you must work together, and if you aren’t able to you to do this easily, then getting the job WON’T get done. When you have people you can always count on, you can trust the process without the stress of wondering what your employees are always doing. If you always have to be wondering if work is getting done or not, then as a leader it makes your job a bit harder.

2. Make decisions, give feedback fast.

There are not enough people in the world who understand the importance of making decisions. Anna has explained in many interviews that she makes decisions fast because it helps the organization move in the direction she would like it to go fast. If you contemplate if you should go this way or that way, nothing gets done. EVER. Time will be wasted and especially if you are a leader in an organization full of employees, everyone waits on the person that has the answer to which way things should go.

Being direct is not just within the decisions but also in the feedback. This will help people in the long work faster. This works for any area of life. If you give feedback that can be helpful to others faster than later, than the ability to help others move forward will be easier.

3. Micromanaging will ruin people

We have all had that boss where they are on our backs for what we can or cannot do. They want to know exactly how you are doing everything and when you are doing everything. You can barely go to the bathroom without being harassed for it. Anna has taught us that one of the ways she has a successful team of people by her side is that she doesn’t micromanage. She stands back and lets them work hard by themselves. She believes that this empowers her employees and gives them the feeling of leadership which in return gives them the motivation to work more effectively.

4. Accept failure

Life is full of failure. It’s just sort of how it works. Although none of us like to fail, it’s apart of life and it gives us the opportunity to appreciate the successes of life. Anna has learned that in fashion there will be lots of different types of failures that come and go but the most important thing she learned was that sometimes you just need to take the hit and move on. It’s okay to fail because that is how we learn. She taught the fashion industry this and in return, it gave people the confidence to try new things. No matter if they fail or not.

5. Get out of your comfort zone

Fashion is about getting out of your comfort zone and Anna figured out at a very young age that you need to go out and try new things to see what you like and dislike. It’s all about being brave in what you want and going for the dreams that sit within your heart. There is a reason for why you feel the way you feel about certain things in life and with that in mind, the world could be yours if you just tried. Trying new things also inspires others to think outside the box as well. It gives a new perspective to traditional thoughts that need to be broken.

6. Enjoy what you do

Anna loves fashion and you can tell. She lives it every day and loves to be apart of something so magical. She inspires the rest of the world to go for what you want in life. If you want to be in music learn everything you can about it and go for it. If you hate where you work, then leave. There is no need to stay in a place where you feel you don’t love. Lifes too short to do what you hate.

7. Be a great leader

Leading people is hard, to say the least. Anna has taught us that if you want to be a good leader you must learn how to be a good leader. People believe that being a leader comes naturally. There may be some skills here and there that leaders naturally have but there is a lot that you can learn to become better. It’s just like anything, if you want to become an amazing basketball player you have to work at it. You can’t expect to be the best if you aren’t willing to put in the effort.

8. Always do your best

Giving effort to all areas of life is what Anna does that inspires many of us. She always gives her best in every area of her life. She pushes herself to be better and to do better. Anna never gives up and when people see this, it motivates others to not give up either.

9. Stop being like everyone else

So many people are so focused on being like everyone else. Fashion is about being you and only you. It’s not about wearing the trends or having the same haircut as everyone else. Being different is a strength that a lot of us forget is an actual strength. Use it to the best of your abilities and watch the world flourish towards you.

10. Lead with impact

People follow others who inspire them. Anna has learned how to inspire people to become the best version of themselves by being the best version of herself. She works hard in the fashion industry to get people to make a difference in their lives. She wants people to read the articles or see the images that are in the magazine and get up and make a difference in the world. The world is impacted by all those that try and she makes that clear that this is her mission here on earth!
